Front Parking Sensors / Speed Pulse Info

Recommended Posts

Hi, just fitted front parking sensors to my 2001 Ls430. I do not want to fit an on/off switch & have obtained a speed pulse interface, basically this will de-activate the front sensors at 15mph.

I cannot locate the speed pulse wire, I was told it was possibly at the cruise control module behind the glove box, 26 way grey connector, pin 20, purple/white wire but this seems incorrect. Can anybody tell me where i can pick up the speed pulse wire?

Thanks in advance

I've had a look through the wiring diagram and I can see a couple of possibilities:

1. The speed pulse seems to come from the combination meter pin 19 (not sure where that is physically located), but it runs to the audio amplifier as a violet/white wire to pin 13. From there it goes to the navigation ECU (same colour wire) pin 25 on the amplifier to pin 5 on the ECU.

2. It also goes from the combination meter to the multi-display unit (presumably the colour screen), again as a violet/white and is pin 5.

As far as I can see the cruise control is managed by the engine ECU, so it looks like the wire colour was right, but not the component.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Please let me know how you get on with this, as I'd like to do something similar.

Found it thanks - I didn't fancy removing the screen so went for the sat nav control unit in the offside of the boot, 3 plugs on the unit but only 2 are used. Large plug, top centre pin yellow / red in colour. Used a Spal APS1 to deactivate the sensors at around 15 mph. Thanks
