Hi This is probably really simple but im missing it !. I recently fitted new pads all round and one week later the brake fluid warning light comes on, on every drive after about 10 mins. Car drives fine.

1. All rear bulbs are working ok.

2. Brake fluid is at top of full level.

3. Low pad warning wires have been capped off (due to stupid cost to replace).

The only thing i can think is now all the pistons dont travel as far the fluid level has risen (possible?) and the light is to say fluid to high ?

any other ideas gratefully recieved.

I would recheck the pad warning wires and connectors again , any bad connection, or

intermittent open circuit will put the light on.

May go open circuit when gets warm.........?

Hi , problem sorted , after removing all 4 wheels and checking all was fine i noticed i had a brake light out . I replaced this bulb about a month ago with a 382 as listed by Halfords. And it worked fine but noticed it was gone again since my fluid light was on. Removed the bulb and it hadnt blown .Confused me for a bit then i noticed the base of the bulb had 1 terminal and the bulb holder on the car has 2 terminals !!! . Must have made a connection for a bit then moved and showed a fail light again, so i think Halfords listings may be out a little.Correct bulb now fitted . job done.

So the next time i fir a new bulb i'l be checking the terminals match up 1st !!

If '96 same as my '94, look on top and behind the splash guards for the discs.

At the same time check your pads for wear as that is the whole point of the warning light!

Plug on top has two wires going to small block in disc pad.

If there is a break in any of the wires, on any of the four wheels ,the light will come on.

Note this is for series two LS, yours may be different, someone else will answer if they are!!
