Sun Roof Seal

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have just noticed that about an inch length of my sunroof seal is missing. Not the whole seal but just the top bit, the seal is like a rectangular box so it is like the lid is missing for an inch length (hope that makes sense).

It definitely wasn't there a week or so ago and I have no idea how it happened. I don't know why anyone would pick it away and I'm not convinced it has perished, maybe a bird pecked it away!?

Anyway, it appears to be waterproof as if it rains only a small amount goes into the seal and then drains out of the holes in the seal that you can see when you open the sun roof. To make it look a little better and a probably a bit more waterproof I have covered the area with a small amount of black insulation tape.

I am probably selling the car in six months or so and wondered what you guys thought. Do I just leave it as it is and replace the tape periodically or do I get the seal replaced? I have a feeling that getting the seal replaced will be expensive?
