Hi all...I bought a 1995 Lexus ls 400 approx 6months ago, and I am highly delighted with it. I am a stickler for checking the MPG. I fill up the tank to almost spill, and then again after I have been on a run, and then calculate the MPG...The results are........Around town, always 28 to the gallon, but on a run, which includes the motorway,at up to 80, between 33 and 36 to the gallon, which I think is absolute brilliant. Does anyone else get these sort of figures ?...Mine is just a bog standard car....Cheers Roy.

Yep, fairly typical, on a long run these old bruisers can match a 'normal' family car for economy.

Hi guys seems i must have a very heavy foot normal is 22mpg mixed motoring, 18mpg around town(mostly short runs) and best ever is 31mpg on 220 mile round trip.I have also found that filling up at the same pump give vastly diff results to the trip computer,ie about 1.5/2mpg less.but what the hell its a class car.

My last car was a mark 2 LS which i had converted to LPG when i first got it.I did 70k in 5 yrs and it didnt miss a beat that use to give me equivalent of 28mpg town and upto 45 on a run.

Regards Andy

There is either something wrong with your odometer or your arithmetic.

I get 22 MPG average from my Mk4. I did the Hot Rod Drags at the weekend and averaged 27.5 MPG there and back (I did not race the car while there). Best run I have had has been 28 MPG (I think like 28.1 MPG) on a run back from Wales. IIRC I only made 25 MPG on the way out.

I didn't buy this car for its MPG LOL
