Goodyear Eagle F1 A/s - 17/225/45 Y Is220d

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to the forum and been reading some good reviews on the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S tyres. I've found a decent fitted price of £101 per tyre on dustcap.co.uk. Planning to replace both on the front axle.

Reading the Goodyear site the performance on icy road and winter was rated at 1 star out of 5.

Are they just covering their arse or is this something I should be worried about?

How has anyone else got on with them as an all year round tyre?

I'm using the Goodyear Eagle F1A's on my IS200 (215/45/17)- very good tyre, lots of grip and low noise.

The F1A's are a summer tyre- all summer tyres are rubbish in the snow. If it snows heavy where you are then you might want to consider steel wheels with snow tyres.

Same here, nothing but praise for the F1As - improvement in every area compared to the Dunlops I used to run.

They are fine in cold weather, but as already said I wouldn't personally use any high performance summer tyre on snow, they're all rubbish as that's not what they're made to do.

Considering we don't really get any snow, best to just leave the car at home on those odd days rather than put up with an all weather tyre the rest of the year.

Thanks for the replies. I've decided to go for them and work from home if it snows.

It's only the front that need changing so these are 225's, the rear are 245's but have a bit more wear left in them for now. Most likely I'll go for the F1 A/S's again in a couple of months time when they need changing.

Good choice mate, I'm sure you won't be disappointed - I found a noticeable reduction in road noise and quite a significant increase in grip, especially in the wet, the difference is quite surprising.

And as before, on any summer tyre, whether it's Goodyear, Dunlop, Bridgestone, Toyo or whatever, it simply won't work on snow so best to stay at home :)

You won't be dissapointed mate....I have them on my Accord Type S and they are a step up from the original Eagle F1, alot smoother ride. I would just double check on the Goodyear website as you might not be able to get a 245 in that rim size and profile so you may have to get something different.

The Pirelli P Zeros I believe were tyre of the year I think and come in 225 and 245 fitment etc.
