I'm new to SC430 and just pondering the mainteance (Yes I wish to do it myself!!), anyone any ideas how to change the automatic gear box oil on SC430 - - am used to doing on manual but not autmatic.

I think you drain by taking plug out (obviously!!), there is another plug which says check on it but it is also in the bottom of the gearbox pan so I'm wondering if there is a tube on the inside of the gearbox pan which determines the about of oil it should have. If so how do I refill gearbox?

Many thanks

Novice Colin!!

Hi Colin,

Welcome to the LOC.

Not sure about the SC430 but there is a tutorial on www.lexls.com for the LS400.

Generally the tranmission drain plug only allows around 2 litres to drain so you would then top back up with the same amount then repeat the process many times to effectively replace all the fluid.

I know on the LS you can "pump" out the fluid but the SC transmission will be different.

Personally I would let Lexus do the job for you.

Again the LS should have the fluid replaced every 60,000 miles but you would have to check the servicing book for yours
