Noise From Center Dash?

I own an IS200 and for the past couple of weeks I have had a strange noise coming from what sounds like the centre dash, around the top air vents and the AC and temp control ect. It only seems to happen when I press the accelerator and it sounds a bit like a rattle, but not a metallic or plastic rattle and it’s not very loud as you can just make it out over the sound of the radio. It sounds like it could be water getting sucked (very hard to explain the type of noise, but that’s what I think of when I hear it). I did turn off all the heating and fan and AC thing, and then the rattle did disappear not straight away, but once I turned it on again after about 5mins it reappeared.

Has anyone come across this before or something similar? As I haven’t a clue what’s making it. Any help would be appreciated.

do you have coins in the ashtray? i do have a little rattle on the driver side vent

Nice idea, i have removed all the things out of the glovebox and the ashtray, the noise still seems to be there, i wonder if its something in the vents? where do they vents start?

Have you enough coolant in your top-up tank. Think i read somewhere that if you havn't enough coolant in your top-up tank ( at the back of your radiator you'll see a black plastis tank with level window) you get this noise.

Cheers for that Tommy, that was spot on. Topping up the coolant has stopped it making that annoying noise, it was just a wee bit below the full mark. Now i can enjoy driving without that little niggle
