Daytime Running Lights (drl) On All Uk New Cars In 2011

A trio of questions

1.These DRLs could be like on Volvos or BMWs (corona rings) or Audi (LED string of pearls) or some other style of 'bulb'?

2.Is this requirement for brand new models which come out in 2011 or existing models (e.g. Lexus IS250/220) for their 2011 model year?

3.Does the IS or other Lexuses already have some sort of DRL?

I doubt they'll apply it retrospectively, it'll just be for new cars going forwards imho. But they don't need to be anything fancy like LEDs or angel eyes, technically all it will need to be if it goes backwards are sidelights that stay on all the time.

And Lexus cars around the world (US, etc) already have DRLs so it won't be difficult to implement.

How come on some cars e.g. Audis with the LEDs only the front lights are lit up - should there not be LEDs on the rear lights too? [180]

If it becomes law like in the US, then yes, but at the mo there is no requirement for DRLs in the UK so they don't need anything on the rear. The ones on the front are just to look "cool" :)
