Exhaust Rust

My GS is a 2002 and I have MOT Advisory on two Exhaust back box joints, the whole exhaust is fine its just the two bolted joints that are very rusty (see pic).

Has anyone else had this problum can it be fixed or is it a new exhaust. ?

Is the exhaust system blowing? I guess not otherwise it would have failed the emissions part of the MOT.

As its an advisory, in the MOT testers opinion there is surface rust on that part of the exhaust system (it could get worse), the advisory is issued so that you know about it (and so that you can keep an eye on it).

If you are intending to keep the car then consider replacing the standard exhuast system with a stainless steel exhaust system.
