There appears to be 6 Lexus and 1 Toyota model affected...totalling circa 270k cars worldwide, 137k potentially affected in the US.

How many UK cars will be potentially affected remains to be seen.

I don't imagine that this will affect their reputation too seriously though.

approx 3200 Lexus in UK affected inc. GS450h, GS460, LS460 and LS600h but NO UK Toyota model is affected.

In my opinion it's the other way round, I doubt this recall is a big deal and as you say doesn't really affect that many cars. But given the battering Toyota's image has had over the last few months, another blow is certainly not going to do their rep any good, especially when it's in all the press (how often do recalls end up in the press)
