Engine Swap Begins!

Hey guys, most of you dont know me as I do not post on here much and am new to the forum. Anyways, just starting a thread as my engine swap is occurring within the next couple weeks and I was going to make a lil thread on it. Im swapping in a 7M-GTE out of a mk3 supra as I got the engine cheap and the hp/ high torque numbers possible on these engines are immense. A lot of research has gone into this with the thanks of some mates who are mechanics and also supra enthusiasts so hopefully it goes fairly smoothly. Im doing a full rebuild on it this week with a metal head gasket, new bearings, forged pistons etc, also a turbo rebuild of the stock c26 turbo so I can run it for now at roughly 12 psi.... As far as transmission goes I am picking up a 1jz tranny and prop shaft tomorrow to match up to the engine ( need to sort a bellmouth), but hopefully it all goes as planed. For mods, on top of the extra boost, I am running down pipe and elbow, HKS intercooler, apexi intake, plus more goodies just to get the car up and running before I switch to a bigger turbo. It has a cobra exhaust on it at the moment which is 2.5 inch catback, but once it is matched up to the downpipe it should sound great and not to mention spit flames as Im going catless :).

I will post pictures soon, this is just kinda an intro!

Wish me luck ha!

Cheers

So far...

What has arrived in the mail!

-japspeed 3inch downpipe

-ecu and wire loam

-boost, oil press, oil temp, airfuel gauges

-turbo rebuild kit

-1jz tranny and propshaft (hopefully prop shaft doesnt need modifying!!! fingers crossed)

-metal head gasket and full metal gasket rebuild kit

Waiting for:

-Bellmouth for tranny (off a mk3 supra)

-intercooler

-HKS blowoff valve

Stripping of the engine has begun!

The issue: Unfortunately these engines use different bearing sizes for the crank shafts....As the engine had a slight rod knock, I need to replace these bearings. Although there is no scoring on the crank itself, I am going to take it out and bring it to the shop to ask them if they can A. polish it, if they feel it even needs it, and B. measure it so I can order the appropriate sized bearings, which differ 7MGTE to 7MGTE...annoying, but needs to be done. The bearing shells themselves were not too badly scored in area 1, but 6 were slightly noticeable (as they are the worst in that area due to excess heat in this area of the engine etc)

The head will be milled as well to perfectly sit the metal head gasket. Before that, the block and head will be cleaned, and painted. Im going flat black for the whole engine, yet masking off some accents and the "3000" pipe to paint them red.

I will get some pictures up soon...for now....bed time.

Cheers

-Neil

I will drop him an email if I need anything answered mate thanks! It is an odd choice, but as I got the engine for 180 quid and the bad boy drops right in I thought id give it a go! Also the huge amounts of torque these engines throw out, and the fact I havn't seen it done yet is the reason Im doing it as well!! More and more parts keep coming every day, I am extremely excited.
