Heater Core 300sc

My 1992 300SC has recently had it's first problem after 155,000 miles coolant from the vents started coming out of the dash vents. I also had a very small amount of leakage on the passanger floor. Before taking it to a dealer and having the heater core replaced I thought that I would toss this problems out to some of the wise sages on this forum. The dealer said that replacing the heater core would cost around two thousand dollars OWCH. Are there other solutions that I should explore? Thanks for your help. clay

I guess they would have to remove the whole dash and center console to get at it
