Gas/ Lpg Conversion?

hello all

i havent been on for awhile as i have been outa the country and my lexus has been sat up

but now im gona drive it again as i refuse to sell it but as i cover alot of miles im considering converting it to gas/lpg

firstly has anyone had this done

secondly is it a success

thirdly how much does it cost and how much would i save

all advice is welcome

Converted my GS in July, no noticible difference LPG is 79p a litre so on my 150 mile round trip to work the savings work out well. Just wish I had a bigger tank fitted.

Hi mate.

Gas LPG systems cost about £2500 and take 4 to 5 days to install.

Don't go for a cheap "one day fitting service" it'll be rushed and put together by at least 3 people,gas systems need to be tested over a period of time to ensure the whole system runs correctly don't forget gas is highly explosive.

As for the availability of LPG it's virtually everywhere you just havn't noticed the pumps.

Personally i'd stay away from LPG as it's a fairly new way of powering your vehicle and gas burns at a higher temp than petrol which can result in other problems appearing.

Until they produce an engine specifically designed to run on LPG in my experience i'd give it a miss.
