Eng And Trc Control Light Issue

Okay. So, my 2001 IS200 had the common problem of the Eng, and TRC control flashing about a week ago. I took it and got the engine codes read and it said the number 1, 3 and 5 cylinders were misfiring. Long story short. I read all over this forum and see ppl have a common problem with the coil packs. I swapped the coil packs from 1, 3, and 5 to the other three. The problem didnt move. So i was thinking it was the injectors. I got 6 used coil packs and 4 used injectors from a scrap yard. I changed the 1,3 and 5 coil packs first since it's the easiest. I reset the engine codes and it fixed it for two days. It drove like a champ. (I also changed all 6 spark plugs with 6 new ones) Today the same problem came back. I have not gotten the codes read again but did change the other 3 coil packs with 3 more used ones on the 2, 4, and 6 cylinders and reset the codes. No fix this time. Right away it failed. Any suggestions?

I have a 1999 IS200 which 6 months ago developed the same problem. Took it to Lexus in Guildford and they couldn't suggest anything as the car was running perfectly apart from giving them loads of money to look into it.

6 months later and it's still running perfectly, but now I have a problem! MOT due in 30 days and new regulations out on Jan 1st 2012 means it will fail with those warning lights on! Can I disconnect them temporarily for the MOT?

If you did disconnect the warning lights it would fail the MOT anyway.

The tester will check that they illuminate during the self check just before he starts the engine.

Update. So I ordered two new coil packs aka ignition packs from eBay. Thrrew them in the 2 cylinders that were misfiring. It seemed to fix the problem. About a week later I can feel a little rough when idle. No engine or TRC light this time. I can barely feel it but I suspect it might come back. I went ahead and ordered the other 4 new coil packs which I probably should have done from the start. Once I have them all 6 will have been replaced so Ill know for sure to illiminate that. Ill update once they arrive.

Okay so just got the other 4 new ones in. Ran the OBDII scanner again before the install. Showing #2 cyl misfire. (that is one of the two new ones I installed a week ago ) :( So I put that new one on the #2 cylinder in the #4 position and now 4 is misfireing...lol So I guess one of the two new ones either was bad or went bad while my wife drove it a few times. I installed the 4 new ones and put one of the used ones back in the #4 position after removing the bad new one. Soooo 5 new ones installed and 1 used in the #4. No codes any more and running fine. HOPEFULLY THIS IS GONE FOREVER!
