Air Ride Suspension For Rx300 2003 Model

Recommended Posts

I have the rx300 with air suspension the top mount on the near side front the bearing has collapsed I have contacted the dealer for the part so I can have my mechanic replace this I was then informed that the part could not be replaced and would require the whole front airbag assembly for the car at a cost of £680 supplied not fitted I then had my mechanic take the front suspension of the car to have a better look at the part we have now discovered that the top mount is removed from the suspension by removing 1 locking nut so I then took this to Lexus in edinburgh and explained that I only required this part and this part only had a discussion with the parts manager about the part who then in turn said there was nothing he could do about this and then handed me the number to call customer care for Lexus who would not speak to me over the matter I explained that there is no way people should be paying £680 for a part that should cost no more than £60 again was told that there was nothing they could do and told me to go to the dealer and get them to supply the whole front suspension to get the car fixed I then asked to speak to a manager or another person who could take my complaint further to be told no and then be disconnected if there is anyone who has had this problem and how you fixed it could you let me know also if anyone can give me the contact details of the department that you can place complaints with to try and resolve this issue I have also got photos of the part and making instructions on how to disassemble the parts it is very simple and when I get the new part will post where I got the part and how to fit but in the mean time any info would be welcome

Could you not manage to use punctuation? This piece is dreadful and very hard to read and, frankly, I nearly gave up. I gather, after a struggle, that your problem is that you want only one part of an assembly and Lexus do not supply it in that broken-down form.

At 9 years of age I can understand your concern at cost (the new part and fitting being worth more than the car) but the suspension unit does have a key part in road holding and messing about may well be dangerous and you should think about that. However as you seem to have had it stripped, can you not get a unit (from a newer car) from a scrap yard and have the two combined or else just fit the scrap yard unit?

Very sorry about the punctuation I am not very good with all that. But getting back to the problem this is a part that should be available for purchase from the dealers and people should not be getting ripped off in this way I think it is disgusting. Like you have said this is a very important part for the car and should not be messed with that is why I hire highly trained tradespersons to carry out work in my company. I also feel that purchasing this part from a scrap yard will be possible but don’t think it is the best answer as there could be underlying problems with that. I have to be sure that this car works ok as I gave it to my wife after she passed her test to get used to driving a big car before I purchase her a new car.

Like Duncan I very nearly gave up reading this post. Not because of the punctuation, but because I can hardly see the words in this greyed out print style. I really do wonder how everyone can like this new " improved" site style. I guess I need to see a better optician !
