Vvt Sensor Malfunction

I have a lexus is200 and when driving my car when at low revs the car was juddering then when i came to a stop and shifted into neutral the cars would rev very high i took it to a garage and they told me that it was was a vvt sensor malfunction has anyone else had this problem if so could it be anything else

nope they made the right diagnose but if the sensor malfunctions it should opup with an engine warning light = there is a fault code that will tell you exactly how bad it is either malfunction (intermittent) or dead ( no signal)

intermittent means it might not need to be exchanged (a clean or re-wire could be needed)

no signal means you'll have to exchange it for a new one
