Rear Brake Caliper

Recommended Posts

I Just took my 57 plate RX400 for an mot and service and as usual about 2 hours after the car has gone in lexus calls and informs me this or that needs doing normally brakes! this year that say the rear brake caliper is ceased! They want £387 which i think is a crazy price for something that costs around £120 new. I think its the last time i get my car serviced at lexus. Ive just been informed the car has passed its mot so how bad can the rear caliper be? Any advice on this would be great. Cheers, Wayne.

I had the same problem on my 05 RX400h, and was informed when they presented me with the MOT certificate only as a matter of attention for next year. It is the bolt that the caliper slides on which rusts up, it causes an un-even pressure on the disc. i took my car to an ordinary garage (although he is an ex Lexus service manager, this shouldn't be outside the scope of a good mechanic) who freed the bolt and cheched the other side for me too, total cost £75 in his grubby little hand.
