Lexus Is250 Enjoys Driving At 35Mph In 6Th Gear

Hi all.

I have just purchased a 2006 IS250 SE with 64k on the clock, full SH with all the extras (Nav, Rev camera, Levinson etc.)

It is a manual which is a change as my last 3 cars have been auto.

When i have driven manuals before, the norm was to change to 3rd at 20, 4th at 30 and so on.

This Lexus however seems fine going in to 4th at around 27, 5th at 31 and 6th at 35-36.

No rumble, but very high MPG figures.

Is this doing the car no good?

Had a new clutch fitted at 56k so shouldn't need doing in my ownership (i hope)

I've noticed something very similar with my IS200. It seems perfectly happy to be in a high gear at low revs, and one thing I have to give it is you can be right down to 1000rpm in say 4th at a silly low speed, but it just pulls and pulls, with no complaints, no fuss, and no bogging.

Actually very similar to my diesel Transit :msn-oh:

Hi there, I got the same year/model as well recently (but no Nav and Mark Levinson, pity..). Good to hear that could actually drive it at such high gear at 35Mph, surely will help the MPG.

Since yours got a new clutch not far ago, may I ask what is your clutch feels like, such heavy/light, biting point, any judder when pulling away quick etc.. I've been searching online for a while trying to compare to mine. Some similar model info would be very helpful, thanks.
