Bike Carrier For Rx350

Recommended Posts

Afternoon all,

I've recently bought a 2006 RX350 which I am absolutely loving.

I am looking to buy a bike carrier for it and thought I would see if anyone on here has any recommendations.

I am looking for a rear mounted carrier that will take up to 3 bikes, 4 would be ideal but I haven't seen any that aren't tow-ball mounted. I have looked at the Lexus carrier but you certainly pay over the odds.

Thanks

Paul

I now use a towbar mounted cycle carrier for my RX300, but I still have a rear mounted 3 cycle carrier which balances on the tailgate and the top of the rear bumper. I cannot remember where I got it from, but I do remember that it was very hard to find one that was compatible with the RX range.

It's in very good condition and was only used a few times and I still have the fitting instructions (may just need a wash, as it's been stored away in the garage).

You are welcome to come and view it and make a offer (not worth the bother and cost of trying to ship it to you). I live one minute from Junction 11 off the M4.

Otherwise, keep looking, they do exist and you will soon find one.

Bobby

The weight I mentioned is very evenly distributed. I certainly would not be prepared to lift a cycle (or more) onto a roof of a car. Do you realise how much mpg you lose with something on the roof of a car !! Also, you would have to be extra cautious with car parks, overhead barriers etc. Just not for me.

What you say is true and yes you have to be very careful re barriers! My personal thoughts are that roof racks are easier to set up and use. Getting bikes On the roof is quite easy. I'm only 5'8". Each to their own.
