Hi guys, always been a jap fan but been enjoying mitsubishis at the moment. Looking to make a switch to possibly an is200 but wanting to know a few things about the altezza model in particular the one with the beams engine. What sort of bhp does the engine make? I understand they are all tips, is it easy enough to convert them to manuals? Any help much appreciated.

Hi there.

Yeah if it's power you want then an RS Altezza or an IS300 is what you will want.

The Altezza makes 220bhp standard from the Yamaha tuned beams 4 pot as opposed to 153bhp from an IS200 with its lazy 6 cylinder.

An AS Altezza even tho it says beams on the engine has the same 6 cylinder engine as an IS200 so it's the RS you want! :)

As for converting the transmission.... No idea matey

Thanks for that Chris, very informative! One question though, how exactly can I tell the difference between them 2 engines if they both have beams written on them?
