For All You Guys With Constant Damp/condensation In Rear Window.

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,,,

My IS200 is constantly plagued with Damp/Condensation in the rear Window.

One thing to possibly check is under the Grey Carpet Covered Plastic Honeycomb/Mesh Cover on the inside of the Boot Lid.

Upon taking mine off there were Water Droplets all across the inside of Boot lid as well as in some of the HoneyComb mesh holes of the cover.

My Spoiler Bolts/Nuts on the inside of the boot lid are all rusted from the water. We dried the inside of the bootlid with a Drier and this has definately

helped with my rear window.

You have to take off the black plastic Covers on the Boot Lid Arms (Sort of push clips) first before prying off the clips that hold the cover to the bootlid.

Im suspecting on mine Water maybe getting in through the holes that are in the boot lid from the Spoiler as the rubber Seal on the boot itself seems fine.

I only drive my Lex every few weeks and so does suffer from condensation... Sometimes I even get a wet drip off the sun roof... I seem to have cured the issue by using a dehumidifying block that I bought from B&Q... Basically it is just a plastic tray with a dehumidifying material in it and it works perfectly.... I'll try to get the name of it next time I pop in

I have had some problems with condensation myself, and I have treated all the rubber door and boot seals with silicon spray. Spray it onto the rubbers and it makes them expand a bit. Wipe of any excess with a clean cloth.

ive also had problems with condensation inside the cabin replaced pollen filter (it was black and damp) did help alot but decided to take a look in under the boot carpet found two puddles either side of the spare wheel in the "pockets" just behind the rear wheels.....drains for these areas were fully blocked........seems ok now but might de-humidify it anyway!

This might be obvious to everybody else, but when I was having condensation problems, it was because I had the switch set to 'recirculate'. Running the aircon cleared all the windows, but as soon as I switched the aircon off again, they would all mist up. Switching the button to 'outside air' and then clearing the windows has stopped them misting up again...

Mine gets condensation/damp on the rear window when left even for a few hours in the Cold/damp weather. There is no water in the Boot under the carpet at all. Well I have regased my Aircon which

has definately helped things. Im sure its the water getting in through the spoiler holes which is causing my issue. Will have to investigate further.

I very much doubt that the boot will leak round the boot seal due to the huge lip round the boot but without pulling the car apart (I'll do that when the weather is warmer and a bit drier) I would be inclined to have a close look at the seals round the rear lights...
