Problems On My Is (satnav, Squeaks, Clutch Etc)

Recommended Posts

I've experienced some cars with clutch judder, among which was my Mazda MX-3 V6 and a BMW 325i of a friend, and both cars got it really bad. Both got cured with a new clutch. The judder is a result of the resonance frequency of the physical spring-mass-damper combination of the flywheel (mass), the (maybe tired) clutch springs and the friction of the (possibly worn or greased) plates. Change either one of them, and the "judder-point" will move to another rpm. By design, this resonance should be outside the operation (rev) range of the clutch. Hence, the dealer should normally be able to fix it.

For those with no warranty, this could mean living with a (mild) judder till the plates are really worn. :crybaby:

Mine's still got the 1st clutch, and it's "okay". Mild judder when cold, on occasion.

On wet and cold days it seems the worst but once the engine is at operating temperature it seems almost to be nihil...still, shouldn't be.

Last JAE someone stepped up to me and quietly asked me if mine juddered also...when i confirmed he looked so relieved :winky:
