Hello Guys.

After using the old LS today I parked it on the drive and tried to lock it using the remote key fob. I have done this thousands of times before with no issue but today the car wouldn't lock.

Upon further inspection, the little red light on the key fob was not coming on when I pressed the lock button. When I pressed the boot release or unlock buttons the red light came on and the boot unlocked and the doors unlocked (I had locked the car by using the key in the door).

It would appear that the lock button is broken. I assume there is a rubber pad under the button which contains or operates a micro switch.

I tried taking the key apart but the part with the 3 buttons on it seems to be a sealed unit.

Has anyone tried to prise this part of the key apart and replaced the rubber pad and been successful or am I heading for a new key?

Many thanks.

Steve.

P.S. My wife's key works fine with the car.
