Just touching base here, I think it's the alternator but just need to check...
Car lights went out then car stopped dead, got a jump start and managed to get home... car died and Battery went totally flat, I thought it may be the Battery so got the AA out and they said Battery... changed Battery and same thing happened...
Is there anything else this can be ?

If not I'll get a new Alternator...

I'm surprised the AA didn't check your alternator output after fitting a new Battery?

Is the alternator charge light not on?

There is generally a high current fuse protecting the alternator in the engine bay fusebox (usually around 80A in an encapsulated holder so it may be worth checking this has not blown before condemning the alternator itself.

Personally having replaced your Battery I would be calling the AA back to check the charge rate as they should have done when the Battery was initially fitted.

Normally, if the alternator packs up during normal driving you start losing system gradually. i.e. the charge light comes on, then the check engine lights a short while later, then the abs warning light shortly after, etc. Caused as the charge left in the Battery depletes, and the voltage levels for each system are no longer sufficient. This is accelerated if it is at night and your lights run things down quicker.

With regard to the charge light, is it showing before starting the car and then goes out? (just in case the bulb is blown)
