Cleaning Lights

Recommended Posts

Anyone got a good method of cleaning the green algae that forms around the edges of the light clusters where water gets trapped between the light fitting and the bodywork ?

I've tried to feed the edge of a cleaning cloth between the plastic and the bodywork but the gap is too small and a toothbrush or paint brush won't get in there either. I don't want to take the lights off and thus possibly disturb the seals due to the propensity they have for leaking water in - any ideas ?

Yes, get yourself some 303 aerospace protectant and apply it to any plastic or rubber bits after removing the headlight to clean it - that will preserve the seals and prevent it leaking, and you get a nice clean light. I think so anyway. Failing that I think you might try some sort of mould or mildew killer, perhaps a mild solution of it, that will kill the green stuff making it easier to remove.
