hi all just got my lexus is200d f sport and wow amazing love it its now my baby i have 1 question i have alloys on the wheels will the car wash damage them or not

I personally would not put my car anywhere near a automatic

car wash, give your wheels a good clean, there are various products around to

clean and then protect your alloys, then 5 minuets with a bucket of warm water

and a sponge, job done.

Hi, welcome to the LOC and congratulations on the IS200d purchase.

As Wendle suggests avoid the automatic car washes and do the job by hand, it will preserve the paint and you get the added satisfaction of admiring the end result performed by your own efforts.

What I tend to do with my alloys is remove them twice a year to clean the insides, wash them with the normal car wash/wax stuff when on the car then dry them off before applying some wheel seal wax.

Lexus alloys have in the past been notorious for paint peeling and corrosion but with a bit of effort this can be avoided or at least the finish maintained for longer.

Welcome and congrats mate. It might be worth posting on the IS220D forum to see if other owners have any alloy wheel issues. The ISF has completely different wheels so people who are usually on here may not be able to answer your questions.
