Cycle Carriers

Recommended Posts

Keith – the picture (taken on the ferry between the Shetland islands of Unst and Yell last month) shows my set up, using a Thule G5908 tow bar mounted carrier. Not cheap, and it needs a towbar too, but brilliant and utterly stable all the way up to 69.99mph (or thereabouts! :D ). You can even get in the boot without removing the bike or rack.

I’m not a fan of the strap on variety, as I know too many folks who have them come loose or even go missing, either on the motorway or in car parks. The towbar mounted versions are, in my view, far more stable and secure.
