Just out of interest ...earlier when the Jag XJR was mentioned as an alternative...I love the looks of most of the Jags and would love to own one...but try their forums and you will want at least one spare engine !....they seem to be very short lived and problematic...have a look

What could be the cause of front suspension noise ?...I know it an old topic but search was no good this time...my 400 clunks quite loud when going over bigish bumps and dips in the road...started as just left side but now both sides...I know its bushes...but there are so many !...just to get some ideas before I get stuck in with a pry-bar...thanks lads

I think a good low miles series 3 too....and spend the saving on a little put aside for servicing and the rest on a nice long trip over to France and through Europe and do what this car does best....covering big miles with no effort in complete opulence...[ or try the Lake District ]...get yourself some great memories ....stay in some nice hotels and live it up a bit with what you saved on not buying a 430 ...it sounds to me like you dont really need it.... :D

Yes I got some...and rears too...[ dont remember who off ] the quality was good , but not as good as originals...which are made by Stanley I think...so you makes your choices etc...

As i said at the start...ANY deviation from the exact "spacing" or letter style will soon get you points...their will be no more blind eye if you are NOT a chav !...you will be swooped upon like public enemy No 1...To me it just moves us close to George Orwell's prediction of Big Brother "watching" "tracking" your every move...Please don't think it will stop at ANPR...you will soon be "monitored" for every trip...your average speed will be calculated and your fine "automatically" posted to you...you will be oblivious of the "offence" until you get your letter...this is just the beginning of the big plan...And don't get me wrong...I would love to see better driving on our roads...and the chavs, car thieves , criminals etc all suddenly being "caught" for their crimes...this will not happen...We the law abiding citizen will have to suffer more and more laws like this to "control" us...Speed ramps are another example...we must ALL trundle and bump over these things every day because of a few idiots speeding around...Why should we all have to suffer these things ?...why can't the idiots just be dealt with properly so that THEY are the ones that suffer for "their" bad driving ? and not us ?...Too hard for the Police to do this ?...I see every day a local Chip shop on a very busy city street where I live...there is double yellows and it is on a corner junction...No one wants to park safely around 15 yards away from the shop...so they all just park on the yellows or on the pavement and yellows!....I have seen many near misses and one collision there...there is around a dozen cars blocking the view out or blocking the pvement or road at any one time...one night I saw a Police Volvo T5 with two officers pull up next to the Chip shop...and I thought he was going to warn or ticket all these cars...But NO NO...he just bumped half on the pavement on double yellows 4 feet fron a junction and went in the bloody Chip shop to get his Haddock !...But hey guys...you go 3 miles an hour over some idiotic 40 mph limit on an open A road on a quiet sunday and "look out"...I used to have a lot of respect for the Traffic Police when I was younger....not now...Sorry for the rant ....but this and FRONT FOG LIGHTS ON FOR NO REASON !....really gets me ! Big Brother looms again and says NAUGHTY NAUGHTY to altered number plates !...but its always been against the law ?...yes, but you only got a £30 fine [if anything] at most...but shortly it will be points too...for ANY plate not spaced exactly as the law says ...no different style letters...nothing !...It seems it is for the new Automatic Number plate Recognition cameras that will be Nationwide soon....checks all you car details in seconds and Automatically pops you your nice shiny fine [plus points ]in the post...the cameras can't read the altered plates...hence the points...Anyone with an illegal plate will.....AND I QUOTE : " Be Apprehended by a Dedicated ANPR Chase Team " ! ! ! !....consisting of...and I quote again : " an ANPR enabled van, two squad cars , and SIX police bikes " :shutit: ....says the ACPO [ Association of Chief Police Officers ] Coordinator John Dean...so careful you guys with altered spacing etc.[ also known as crime of the Century ]......"aaaah big brother leave me alone !...i'm not harming anyone !"

No the LS 430 dont fit...I bought a set and no where near...got the clear front and rear ....but the wing repeaters are elusive to me...good luck.

I agree ...dont need to flush...and flushing can cause trouble in a motor that has not been looked after...can free off deposits and clog or damage things...just change it often with good mineral oil...I also use the Toyota oil from the local Toyota or Lexus garage...but its always a debate this oil thing...everyone has their own ideas...

I love my mk3...and also think its the best looking....but then I am biast I suppose...also like the idea of no vvti, trac control, as on mk4 etc to go wrong....I just love it...but every time I end another journey of opulence....I walk away from the car praying it never goes wrong " ...mmm paranoid " as I do my own maintainace oil plugs caps etc...But its still the highest quality product i ever bought...every trip is an amazing acoustic experience....I could go on but I better shut up !...If it was me Id go for that one with the bonnet mascot on ebay right now...Good Luck mate. :shutit:

Sorry to hear that pal....mmm have no answear ...this is why I was interested in switching off my tilt as I dont need it....and save on wear....there is on some models an on/off switch somewhere...but not on my 97mk3 400...I'm sure someone will be along to help soon !

My mirrors went the same way...did'nt need the heaters but makes it hard to see throught them too....I went to halfords with a template i made from card and matched them up pretty close but not perfect...they did not have any for ls400....works real good...much better in the daytime...sorry cant help on your other stuff....good luck!

Just noticed a slight leak around edge of transmission pan after I done the tranny flush...thought I had sealed it good with blue Hylomar ...it needs to come off again...Can you use a proper gasket off a MK1 on the MK3 ?....seems the way to go ?...other than that Im a Lovin it !...............

ROXT....yes thats what I have done....down to 2 with the stick and floor it...it dun half go !....but does anyone know if its OK to do it ...what i mean is ...is it designed to be operated like this...or are you asking for trouble ?...Does anyone really know ?

Yes dhs....i use that often too...seems kinder to the transmission than kickdown...but I have also changed to 2 with the stick and it gets the revs up ready for say a really quick overtake then back the throttle off and then change to 3...goes like a rocket but dont wanna damage anything on my baby !....

Is it OK to say pull the stick into 2 on the autobox and use all power ?...at say 30 or 40 mph ?...then upshift with the stick into 3 ?....I cannot find anything about this in the owners manual....it states you can use it to slow the car....so I presume you can use it to accelerate the car...anyone know?
