  1. Haven't been here for a while, and fingers crossed, todays the day I finally get around to buying an Is200. It's 4 years old with only 30k on the clock. It had a service at 10k, 20k, and now 30k, however I was under the impression it should be serviced whatever comes first, an extra 10k, or one year? Because with this car, it missed a year out (3 services, not 4)...last one just being done by the garage. Also, I know the 60k service is a big one because of the belts that need changing. Is it definately 60k, or is it a 5 year thing, whatever comes first kinda thing? My brother tends to think cambelts should be changed every 5 years. And my last question, I remember a few years back on here, someone mentioned a warranty that includes replacing tyres, and was the most cost effective way to buy tyres. Any details still about?
  2. I love the red, been hunting for an IS200 for a few years now, settled with a golf gti turbo, but seen a very well priced 02 S locally so will have a look at the weekend, and try and offload the golf. Shame it's only an S though
  3. You should have legal help under your home insurance and/or your car insurance so if you can, speak to them. Try to just take a step back and let the insurance company deal with the arguing between the 2 parties. If you feel that you are not happy with your insurance company though there are steps you can take that should get you some results; 1. Find out the companies complaints procedure and follow it. Put everything in writing, try not to moan, stick to the facts. Give them a timeframe to contact you in, and wait for them to contact you. I know this is all VERY stressful but don't allow all of this to run your life at the moment. You have had an accident and although this other seems to be behaving like a schlong, don't allow him to waste some of your spare time as well. So if you have stuff to sort out, calls to make/letters to write, etc, just set aside a max of an hour a day. 2. If the insurance company do not respond in a way you find satisfactory, you can then contact the Financial Ombudsman. The whole financial industry cack themselves when regulators get involved and so if it has gotten that far you should be reasurred the end is in sight. Good luck, and I love the tints you have. I'm not a fan of tinted windows but you have the darkness spot on.
  4. A few S 05 plates, 1k on the clock for £14k. I assume these are ex demos else someone was robbed on their trade in
  5. don't forget, come january buyers perceive a car as being now a year older than in december. a 99 reg is then 7 years old if prices are supposed to be lower, why arent lexus reducing the price of their older stock?
  6. No-one even bidded on this 2003 one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-IS-200-SE_W0QQ...1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. 2nd hand prices for the 99/00 models are all over the place. They jump from around 5.5k to all about 7k within a few weeks. If people can't sell I don't know why the prices aren't coming down. I have been after a nice example for upto 7k since Easter and I am still without one.
  8. Whenever I go on hols to the USofA the most popular car colour seems to be white, yet here, barely anyone has one. discuss you may begin the exam question now....
  9. It's bad enuff committing to buying a lex, let alone an import. I tried my toyota thing today, we were 200 adrift, i walked. Somehow on the way back i agreed to buy a golf gti off my bro.
  10. Maybe it helped pass customs quicker
  11. This one is a 99 import RS http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/cars_...rch_full=SEARCH A LOT cheaper
  12. ok thanks, i guess its so owners dont get too depressed!!
  13. Where can I find it? Want to take a car for a test drive and see how many mpg it does on the drive. its for an is200 btw I guess i need to know how to reset the mpg part as well, cheers
  14. they are called mole valley coachworks. someone else on here said they were going to give them a whirl but i dunno how he got on. 01372373626 Kingston Road, Leatherhead, Surrey KT22 7PB
  15. How often should the car be serviced, is it every 5000 or 10000 miles or every year?
  16. I have a speed camera alert on my TOM TOM 500. Download and update the sites every month, lets me know 300 yeards ahead of time.
  17. stay calm and be really reasonable, being angry (which is more than understandable) will hurt your case and they will just peg you down as another over-reacting customer.
  18. I thought prices may come down a little with the new model coming out but this is this a complete steal? Having said that, it's too cheap for me to be interested http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/cars_...rch_full=SEARCH
  19. That's exactly what I did, guy was wanting to give further off but may be use for someone who has very comprehensive warranty
  20. This is in no way an advert or endorsement, just really a heads up because although this was not the right car for me, it may be for someone else, obviously if they are desperate enough. I visited Fortnums in Staines this weekend. They have a W reg Sport in Platinum. I took it for a spin, guy said it only came in yesterday. I made it clear I knew it had been there a month. Here's a rundown on the car; - New alloys (only 1 left to switch out now) - Car has gone up in mileage (about 4k) since a month ago and when I saw it then it had a tie in it, and a coke can, so assume its the runabout car. - A few scratches and scrapes, not too bad, and they said all would be fixed - no log book yet but car would not be sold without them having it - no service history book at all. - All receipts from 2002 onwards. All done at G'ford Lexus and seems a lot of stuff has been done, wheelbearings, break pads a few times. All in all about 2.5k worth of repairs. I guess at least it's been done at a Lexus dealership. - He was suggesting they could do it for about 6-6.5k. - They have a voucher on their website that the guy seemed willing to accept that gives free service every 6 months, and 2 years warranty.
  21. I reckon you could bargain them down to 9k, maybe say you dont want the warranty. Someone posted on here a warranty for 14 months for about £250 that included wear and tear (tyres) and was to be fixed by lexus if anything did go wrong, so that may be your best bet.
  22. :D Yes, that's me. Clio is going, been looking at getting an IS200 for a few months now. Just got to wait and the perfect little beauty will come along. Back on topic, to try and justify this post Another option is Kingwood, just down the dual carriageway from Sutton, and lots of greenary
  23. Recommended by some peeps at the dvdforums
  24. There's a very good bodyshop place in Leatherhead if that helps. My brother had a 6x3 inch rust hole in a doorwell on his car and they fixed it, perfect for about £80. I needed a whole front wing replaced on a clio and was told £200 for that and respray redoing up half the side of the car to blend it. never got it done though, poor car. If you want their details, let me know. It's a small outfit but has a few people working there. They were doing a BMW 5 series with holes all down one side when I went ot get the clio quote. Guy accomodates out of office price quotes though. Dunno if L'head is any good for you though. A bodyshop would do dents right?
