  1. Sorry.... Mind you just tried - can't access Jason's, and I think that was an interactive one where you can mark where you are etc?? This one is view only...but the detail is astonishingly good.
  2. Guys, dunno if anyones ever posted this before, but try this: Google Earth Install the free software (11ish Meg) and then you can enter your postcode, places of interest etc and see fantastic actual photos. EG - you can see the Grand Canyon, and pan down 3d into the crators of that, and volcanoes etc...it's fab. Street photos are pretty patchy...London is well covered, but if you put my post code in Leicester all you get is the street with no houses. A mate says that the car on his drive is one he sold about 6 years ago, so some of the pictures are old. I don't think they were Satellite taken - they could be from planes. You can see your washing hanging on the line....patio etc... Anyway - it is amazing!!
  3. As good as it is, I wonder what'd happen if there was no raised "kerb"...? I suppose iRobot was true to life...in the future...we'll be able to sit at the wheel reading a mag and the headup display will show 127mph...listening to Bach....and supping a Cappucino...or a Beer and watching the footie... PS - we all know what happened last time Mercedes tried to show off their S Class in the fog.... :o
  4. Yeah, they are excellent and easy to use. They remove all traces of tar, bird dropping remains and previous applications of wax etc. I always clay my car before a major detailing, the paint comes out sooooooo smoooth after! :D Mike - you've done it again! Now I want a clay kit! Back on topic, vinegar is something I use in the shower (not on me - but on the tiles etc), and it's the limescale which usually makes up all that white spotty stuff. Vinegar seems to just dissolve it. I menytioned it else where, but I use Mr Muscle - the Penny's dropped now...next time my Mr Muscle runs out, i'm gonna use dilute white vinegar instead for the glass... Might even try it on the kids and see how clean I can get them!! In a moment of madness, I bought one of those Flash Car cleaner kits. Totally useless I have to say, except for the "Ionised" water cartridge. Now I wash the car, by hand using normal car shampoo, then rinse down with normal water, and finally the ionised spray...leaves no white spots at all...
  5. I'm not sure that they will reduce the height on their own. You probably need a Sport suspension/spring kit to get the full low down!! The car will look more aggressive as the wheels will appear to fill the "holes" more, especially with the extra width. It'll look awesome. The wheels are 18", which is one more obviously and hence will raise the height of the car by 1cm... But then the tyres are different, 225/40 and 255/45, where the 40/45 are (I believe) percentages of the tread width... and for the front this will mean 40% of 225/18 as opposed to 45% of 225/17... :duh: and likewise for the rears...? WIM may be able to confirm, but that's how I always viewed it. You need an algorithm to work this out, but I reckon a gut feel is that they are likely to be similar both from a circumference and actual ride height of the car perspective? The differences will be minimal. And this is important from a MPH/Speedo etc perspective... WIM may know more...
  6. It's a scam as mentioned above. The bank's/buildo's will write to you if that happens... I do all my stuff via the web, pay bills, banking etc, but now I use my work access to do it...'cos it's heavily governed. Sometimes, however, the credit card companies will call you if you've bought something expensive on the Internet (like a washing machine...) to check it's you that's bought it...but even then they won't ask you for any information, but will give you info...best thing is to call them back before you discuss it...via the contact number on the back of the card.
  7. Boy - can you imagine being in that "Bendy bus" at the back...
  8. Mr Morse - you've done it again!! I now want to buy the "Klasse SG".... There goes the Missus's birthday present money...again!
  9. Dan - This is the link I "studied" Where you read Klasse All in One, read Carlack68 (basically the Same product). Autopia Guide to Polishing
  10. Hiya Dan - good bed time reading...ZZZzzzzz ;) It's not that clear on the Carlack68 instructions which I sent to you. I think the little circular set of instructions in the tub of P21S talks about water beads and water sheeting (!) and help more, but it's basic stuff on that sheet. I have taken 2 things from the research I did before I shelled out: 1) Carlack68 is a cleaner, polish and sealant. The chemical cleaning propeties will remove all waxes, supagards, even the Carlack68 applied previously. So once a year I would say or if the wax just can't give you the depth your looking for, or the winter salts have made the paintwork "rough" (run your finger along the top of the bonnet after washing and drying). However, it's non abrasive and therefore if you have bad scratches or serious oxidation, use Autoglym or something slightly abrasive first.... My wifes car was badly swirled before Carlack, and I have to say that most of these (not all) have gone, when viewed under the flourescent light in the garage. 2) Carnuba is a wonderful wax, but it is soft. I read Autopia before I ordered it, which is quite detailed, especially one of the articles on there. In order to make it last, I would say you need to give it a couple of coats, each one removed/allowed to harden sufficiently before the next coat. So all you need is a couple of hours after washing max, split across 2 days. Once 2 coats of P21S wax are applied, I reckon you should be OK for at least 3-6 months before you need more wax again...'cos even if the wax starts to wear off, you still have the Carlack68 underneath it. Winter could be more testing for the Carnauba - with salt etc. But if like me you garage your car at night, you'll probably need more infrequent applications. I haven't invested in any decent car shampoo yet - I bet some are better than others...? In the menatime I am using my jumbo 5 litre Zip Wax...which ain't bad - but I'm sure someone will tell me differently - Mr Morse?
  11. Try this link: http://www.car-crime.com/write-off.htm Not a bad idea, but you really want to to soeak to your insurance company first, and get a detailed examination of the car... A mate bought a Cat D Merc C class, S reg 240, 60000 on the clock, £1200, spent £2000 on it, and it's perfect!! he's had it six months...
  12. Well they kept that quiet, bearing in mind I'm spending over £27000 with them...but then by now I must be branded a "trouble ticket"!! a) were there lots of people there? B) how were they washing the cars (i.e. were they using power washers and teenagers - or teenagers with power washers) and was it with the right kit? Interesting...
  13. mad (as in USA vice president Cheney - wrong Cheney I know...what the 'eck)
  14. Does anyone know if you can apply Carlack68 or Supagaurd etc to the alloys (obviously not the tyres)? I am worried about the stories of lacquer disintegrating on the old IS alloys, and I know its too early to tell if the new IS wheels are as badly powder coated/lacquered... I know wheels are painted differently to body paint...hence the question.
