  1. Was covered late last year...appears to have limited Voice com's for the Ausie version like you say... Best you speak to Lexus Aus' matey... I remember now that Tonydownunder was running a thread looking at the things to be improved...
  2. Been munching this over some more since the last post...How can a 6 cyl 2.5 be as economical as a 4 cyl 2.2...and a Diesel at that? Have they really got the Turbo all :tsktsk: up? Surely at this rate the New RAV4 T180 will be 25 to the gallon tops with all of that lower gearing and extra AWD weight...I still can't believe it! On the test drive, it was noticeable that the 220d neded more frequent gear changes, and that the Turbo delivered all of it's punch in one go, unlike my old VAG engine which was less powerfull, but somehow felt as powerful 'cos it was a flatter delivery (from 1650rpm to 3800rpm)... Anyway thought it over some more and I will still stick to diesel :) ...I'm too close to delivery now to be mucking around (I feel I might regret it...oh what the 'eck!).
  3. Not apples and apples, but my A4 130bhp 1.9TDI was always above 54mpg on my regular route to essex - 30 Miles fast A roads, and 200 miles motorway including the infamous cambridge/huntingdon (A14/M11) snarl ups and the M25... I know it was less powrful, but hey 20mpg more? And just town driving - never below 39mpg, hence why so many cabbies use the same engine via the Passatt route.
  4. No, not at all matey!! Just a few more days and looking forward to it in spite of naff economy!! I did see a St Lucia Pearl one in Leicester today on the way there... It looked gr8! So Eunos800 - you'll be please if that's what you went for in the end!! PS - that means I have seen 17 now (though one black one in Leicester seen thrice, and 7-8 on a wagon on the A34 near Oxford - so they don't count
  5. Good point Nicnac...We had a thought - maybe plump for the petrol instead...but ultimately we prefer the "drive" of the diesel... On a manual .v. Auto basis, the auto is best.... However, the diesel is slightly more engaging to drive, and should still emit less harmful stuff into the air...so we'll be sticking with the oil burner for now... In a sraight performance fight, I still think the diesel is quicker, but the gearing is high...and more suited to motorway driving, where mine will spend 80% of it's life. Maybe next time...when that IS350 finally gets here (there's wishing)! I don't think your economy will improve much beyond 10% over 10000 miles...so that'll maybe get us to 40mpg...with the A/Con off etc in the winter. PS - I'm sure I read somewhere that customers of the BMW 320d found that getting 40+ MPG meant lots of high gear, max torque drving, leading to an actual average of 40MPG best...and that has 163 bhp... Scott - thanks for taking it on - let us know how you're getting on.
  6. Been to the dealer today to hand over my Chersihed retention form so that I can get my new baby with my plate. All looks good again for mid March...again...but they can't tell me for definate...still not satisfactory. If you bought a Rolex, you would know exactly when you were getting it...even at a quarter of the price of a new Lex! One thing that was covered earlier on these threads was for saturday freebie car washes...they were doing this at my local today. Admittedly did not see them washing it. But 2 came round from the back, one was dripping wet...the other one was sort of dryish... Both had badly cleaned alloys....shameful! The dust was still on the base of the spokes on one all round and "white" water spots all over the glass where it was left to dry naturally, and the other had one very dirty wheel...not cleaned at all....! The coffee and pastry's looked OK though... Well they do say, you don't getting anything for free! PS - Velcrow - cheers mate for the vote of confidence...I'm gonna be forced to go to Coventry for maintenance!
  7. Blimey, that doesn't seem very good for a diesel. I hope it gets better as the engine gets run in, as that's the same MPG as most of the IS250's are getting. Just found this reader review on What Car. The guy has done 3000 miles in his IS220d and is only getting 30 - 37 mpg IS220d Reader Review I think I might be having a conversation with Lexus and the advertising standards agency before too long. Hiya Scott - hope you're well...Has someone at Lexus been telling porkies... This is not a good advertisement for the car. I suppose it's too late for me...mine is arriving 9th March...it does not bode well for me. Poor customer service from my local dealer and poor fuel economy... I'm not heavy footed, and with 25000 miles per year mainly motorway, I am expecting low 40's. If I don't see this, it's back to Audi in 18-24 months when the new A4 arrives... It's sad that I'm thinking about my next car when this one hasn't arrived...and this was supposed to be the one I grow old with!
  8. Looks like the 250 betters the diesel on fuel economy (and performance). Wonderful. You've no doubt done this (sorry for the motherhood statement), but you have re-set the readout since buying it? Is that even possible?
  9. I had a warranty check done at Lexus Woodford last summer before my warranty expired. I didn't really specify anything in particular to check, so they just checked the car over and told me what needed doing. I can't remember exactly, but I remember they replaced my ball joints (which also meant a free full geometry), my satnav controller (as one button was sticking), 2 alloys for corrosion (although they were only corroding due to kerb damage) and there may have been one or two other little things. I remember seeing the bill which would have been around £700, but it was all replaced FOC under warranty :D I don't think they'll try and hide anything that's wrong with the car, as they don't pay for it anyway ;) Fascinating - an insider at Audi in Leicester told me that they were targeted to reduce the number of warranty claims, and so they would "budget" how many claims they were allowed to "wing" every quarter. What that meant is that you had to fight tooth and nail for anything like corroding wheels...they replaced 3 on my Audi, and the 4th they wouldn't as I had very mildly kerbed it, though the corrosion was no where near the kerbed bit...and the corroded bit was much bigger than the kerbed area! It was one of the things that put me off buying another Audi... They wouldn't allow a pre-warranty expire check...no such thing when I asked them (and yes they would charge me at £85 per hour EVEN if something needed replacing as I couldn't tell them that something was wrong ...)
  10. Same here - I like you want this next car for ever...but love the environment too much to go for the petrol. The only thing is that the diesel is not that economical... A part of me thinks the petrol auto should have been the right choice... :duh:
  11. GSM Masts cause this. They affect all radio waves, it's one of the reasons why your wireless network at home drops out...the radio waves "interfere". Happened to me at the Merc Garage in Coventry when I went for a test drive....slap bang right next to a huge Vodaphone mast!! My Audi wouldn't unlock when he was trying to appraise the car...b :tsktsk: d did not tell me until he'd seen me squirm for 2 minutes... :tsktsk: Merc Salesman! Those darn things are everywhere now!
  12. Some of you know the history of mine... Anyway, ordered Early Jan, delivery 9th ish of March I have been told again...should have it by 15th!! Not bad...but I'll believe it when I see it...
  13. Said it before, and I'll say it again - product knowledge is p155 poor at lexus
  14. Basically, someones gotten a hold of your email address, probably through someone elses PC/contact list. That PC could be infected... That someone elses PC or some "anonymous" machine elsewhere is blasting out this scam/spam mailer to everyone on the list it's created...regardless of whether thay have an account or not... I get loads of 'em, including those trying to sell me Viagra (Believe me I DO NOT NEED it - my tackle is good for any sort of fishing...) Valium and the like... There's not a lot you can do. It's possible that this infected PC will keep doing this until someone realises, or the culprit server is shut down... How longs a piece of string...one may ask...that's how long it'll take for it to stop... (And yes it is twice one end to the middle). In the meantime just keep deleting them...and don't double click or open anything ending .ZIP or .EXE files... Do regular scans like you've done, and getthe latest updates everyday from Symantec (Norton). PS - the machine I'm using is a donkey version of windows with one wooden leg - Windows Millenium!!!!
  15. i'd agree with that statement, only if the italian mechancial/electrical compoents were also replaced with Japanese mechancial/electrical compoents :D i agree, imagine if that was a lexus i think the worlds press would go crazy. I get the impression people just think its another gorgeous alfa but its bound to go wrong I think it's a fantastic looking car...just don't drive it...then it won't break! But I suppose you'll lose £1000 each time you blink....
  16. I think it's much better when you start looking at natural beauty... Well designed though....
  17. And of course our government will only increase the Petrol proces up EVEN higher...relatively speaking... When will the diesel cars start running on Rapeseed oils? Mercedes apparently patented the technology in the 1980's...so no one else can develop it... That's progress for you! Though some have found a loop hole and are doing their own version now...
  18. Colin - very interesting....do you know if this techie can sort out the volume for the Satnav which people complain is too low? And also the "Voice Activation" commands which also appear to be too low? I struggled on the test drive with the radio on at a resonable volume to hear what she was saying, but assumed it was adjustable...and my salesman had no idea...
