  1. It is an extra cost but it may be worth considering euro plates for your new baby. They cost $395.00 for next number allocated by Vic Roads or $695.00 to choose two letters and three numbers. All euro plates in Victoria start with "V". The IS250 is so well specified that this is the only "Mod" that I will probably do, plus sign up for Gold Membership of this forum . Firstly I think the euro style looks much better than the standard "Victoria - The Place To Be" ones and secondly, being 520mm wide they fully cover the black plastic plateholder on the front bumper. You can check them out at Vic Euro Plates and build what you want online. If the number is not taken (try IS350) you get a large image of how the plate will look and the option to purchase. If the number is already taken (try IS250) you get Doh!. The programmer must be a Homer Simpson fan :P. If only some of the suburban vic roads where as good as the website.
  2. How would I go about finding the part number? Is there a Lexus web site for locating parts for ordering? I took a picture of the "part" with my mobile phone, here it is: ← Do you have a picture of what is in its' place when the sunglass holder is not fitted?
  3. Congrats and where did you place the order? Believe it or not, I am slightly with envy. My first choice was Crystal Mist. But my wife and son and daughter who is visiting from Sydney, all convinced me that Silver/Black was better. I already have a silver car. so wanted a change. The Crystal Mist is a bit like a chameleon, it changes colour. I expect you saw the CM one on show at Melbourne City Lexus. I think the pink lighting which made the car look purple may have influenced my family. OK, now that is off my chest, I can't wait to get mine in fact I think I would accept bile yellow if I could get my hands on one today :P. I have also splashed out on Euro Plates. Selecting VIS251 because VIS250 had gone. I prefer the euro plates because they cover the ruddy great black plate holder that is fixed to the front bumper. The standard plates don't cover it and it stands out like a dog's :tsktsk: on a light coloured car.
  4. Sean Kershaw was the salesman and I also dealt with Payam Nash the Sales Manager. Payam has recently moved from Sydney to Melbourne, so that makes him a good guy already B)
  5. I would like to propose this topic to accumulate LOC members' suggestions to Lexus to fix and/or improve the functionality of the software in the IS range, particularly usage of the Navigation and Multimedia systems. Both "Official" and "Owner Discovered" fixes and solutions can then be accumulated here as a resource for current and new owners. I take delivery of my first Lexus in Feb 2006 so have no actual experience, but to get the topic started here are several annoyances expressed by early adopters of the IS250 that IMHO definitely need attention: 1) Ability to override some of the "Nanny" features such as preventing data entry while moving 2) Enable use of DVDs with MP3 files in the Mark Levinson system 3) Enable full voice activation in AU IS250 models 4) Fully integrate iPod controls in the MM screen Please add additional "annoyances" and more importantly any and every suggestion or solution.
  6. Thanks for the earlier help with the pricing. I didn't do a great deal but am still happy that I went with Lexus of Brighton. A really prof organisation.
  7. I take delivery of a Sport Luxury at end Feb and am also disappointed to hear about the limited voice activation. This may be a software issue with Lexus not prepared to put the effort into the AU market. Well, once we have identified any shortcomings, let's put pressure on Lexus to bring AU cars up to standard. Who knows, a few of us may be able to pilot new versions of the software - stationary of course
  8. Guy Salmon hires out luxury cars, they don't have Lexus on their website but may be worth a call. Details at http://www.guysalmon.com
  9. This website may have useful info http://www.marklevinsonlexus.com/. I am keen to load MP3s on DVD, so that tracks can be selected via the MM screen rather than on the iPod circle thingy. I plan to send ML an email and will let you know if I find out anything.
  10. I have had an MS Fingerprint Reader for several months. It works well, although the red light is very bright and is on all the time. As for not having to remember passwords, make sure you still keep your passwords written down somewhere safe. I have managed to clear them accidentally from the system and it would have been a real pain if I did not have backup.
  11. Another IS250 will be joining the growing band in Melbourne at the end of Feb. Just placed an order with Lexus of Brighton for a Silver/Black IS250 Sport Luxury. Hopefully to be delivered on 24-Feb-06. Can't wait.
  12. I have today placed an order for an IS250 with all the trimmings including Mark Levinson MM, 17" wheels, PCS and ACC. Basically everything except 18" wheels and sport suspension. Being over 50, the harder ride and the cost of replacement tires are not appealing compared to the ride comfort of softer suspension and tires. I took a cursory glance at the 325i and did not consider an Audi. I am thrilled with my decision. Delivery is end of Feb and I can't wait to join the ever growing band of Lexus owners.
  13. Have you decided on a Melbourne dealer yet? I plan to order an IS250 Sport Luxury within the next two weeks for delivery in March and would be happy to compare notes. Let me know via this forum or email me at tony@autoapps.com. Also have you chosen a colour. I favour Crystal Mist, but my wife likes Silver. What cost marital peace
  14. Do you mean dropping the drivers seat lower than the mechanism allows and if so, how do you do that? I just want 1-2 cm more headroom and the fit will be perfect
  15. Yes it is a design classic and will always be admired. However that makes it a good candidate for a coffee table book or a design museum, but should not stunt its development. Just like Lexus and many other brands do all the time, Apple should move ahead in design and IMHO alter the look. I am sure in 20-30 years the sons of Apple will bring out a retro iPod that looks like a 2005 model with TBs of storage and our grandchildren will show it to us and think it is very cool. Hopefully before that happens they will to fix iTunes to be more Windows friendly. A happy New Year to all LOC members and families and happy .
  16. I agree that iPod seems to be missing the plot and is beginning to look out of date. Also iTunes does not aways behave itself on Windows, so all in all I will be looking for a different brand when I upgrade my iPod mini to a video capable player.
  17. Before paying for a new DVD, it is worth checking if the road is actually on the DVD, but the routing software is not choosing it. I currently have a hand-held GPS and it persistently refuses to take me on a section of tollway that would get me home quickly from the city. However if I drive onto it, the GPS instantly recognises the road, although it won't route me on it. I will be interested to see if the GPS in the IS250 does the same or is hopefully much smarter.
  18. Car looks great. I will be driving from Melbourne to Sydney in April to visit my daughter in Bondi for a few days, so may see you on the road around Sydney.
  19. I'll keep my fingesr crossed that you sort out the voice activation via this topic. I take delivery of a Sport Luxury in March and will no doubt run into problems with the voice stuff and will need to watch this topic for assistance. I never could get my phone to work properly so am not too hopeful about a car. Although in my case everyone ignores me, especially my wife and kids so perhaps it is just me
  20. What colour did you choose? I am still trying to decide .
  21. The 16" alloys are available on the "Prestige" model in Australia. The tire size is the same front and rear. The next two models up have staggered front and rear tires. Here are the specs from the Lexus Australia website: http://www.lexus.com.au/models/specificati...cid=2&variant=1 TYRES & RIMS IS250 Prestige Front Tyre size 205/55 R16 Rear Tyre size 205/55 R16 Front Rim size 16 x 7JJ Rear Rim size 16 x 7JJ Rim type Alloy
  22. Great pics, great car - well done. I hope seeing an IS in tropical Queensland doesn't make our English friends feel too cold in chilly England. Happy Xmas. I am sure it will be with such a great looking and driving car.
  23. I have found two ways to delete songs from an iPod: 1) Remove them completely from the iTunes library or, 2) Uncheck the tick box against the song in the iTunes library After each of the above, you right click on your iPod display in the "Source" window on the far left and select Update Songs. If you chose 1) it will dosappear from both and 2) will just go from the iPod. Good luck and Merry Christmas for tomorrow.
