  1. Pollution sensor does not seem to function below 4 degrees ish. Possibly to stop windows misting up..... although when starting form cold if you leave AC on auto it does not put the fan on until the car has warmed up a bit leading to misty front windscreen on occasions. I would have thought it would be better on semi low blowing air against windscreen. Anybody else noticed this?
  2. Interesting Whoosh! I've been told that the auto locking IS available...but the Techie had never done one yet...he was gonna find out how it's done. As normal I will have to chase the dealer to find out if it's possible!! I'd like to see a TV Tuner. The beemers have these. If you waiting around for someone for 10minutes you don't really want to stick a DVD on but could watch 10 minutes of TV. DVD with mp3's not just CD's. (Anyone managed this yet?)
  3. B)--> QUOTE(Carlos B @ Feb 26 2006, 12:03 PM) ← The paddles change the gear range that the automatic can select from. Changing the range doesn't necessarily mean it will change gear at that moment. Example ...you're in range 2 doing 25mph. You change up to range 6 by pulling the + paddle 4 times in short order. The gearbox will probably change to 3rd or 4th but won't go to 6th. Also you're right, the 'box will downshift as normal as speed is reduced, you don't need to pull the - paddle It's great for town driving, as you can keep to a lower gear and keep the revs up..and up...and up ! If you downshift say from third to second the car will downshift straight away unless it would cause engine damage
  4. B)--> QUOTE(Carlos B @ Feb 26 2006, 11:53 AM) ← Have tried mine a couple of times recently, though not on any really steep hills. Where a hill isn't too steep the auto does it's usual creep. on a steeper hill will roll back very slowly and then stay still after minimal distance. Why all the carry-on about the foot operated parking brake. Put it on by pressing it with your foot, and when you want to release it on a hill press it while also pressing the accelerator...what's the issue ? It's the same as releasing a 'hand'brake at the same time as clutch up and accelerate. I've not found i've needed to do this. even on a very steep hill it's easy to move foot from brake to accelerator quick enough to avoid car rolling back at all.
  5. Tested the Hill holder on my is250 yesterday. Very steep hill. Seems to roll back very slowly for a little bit and then stops. Not really any good if anyones behind you though. Have to be quite quick to the accelerator. I will check this out against the manual and then bring up with the dealer if I think there is a problem.
  6. Does this switch it off permanently or does it need to be done every time? One would assume you can programme other features with this method by doing something else at stage 6 I'll give it a try at the weekend. Couldn't get this to work.
  7. Try leaving the headset at home for a week and see if it happens.

  9. Gave the car a good wash then tried the Meguiars Quik Clay Detailing System yesterday. Worked a treat. Spray on the Liquid. Rub with the clay bar. Removed all the rusty speck without too much effort and without damaging the paintwork. Superb! :D Then finished offwith a coat of Meguiars Gold Class Clear Coat Liquid Wax Also used an Autoglym Silicone Car Dryer thingy. Very Good. Was a bad case of industrial fallout after all.
  10. I have dealt with Ford, Peugeot (Never buying a french car ever again), and Mercedes. They were all extremely poor. Mercedes were the worst. They did some shocking things like fixing a leaky seal around the windscreen with clear silicone, rather than replacing the seal (They didn't even try to hide it, it was visible on the outside.)
  11. Ordered mine around 4th January - delivered 14 january. Argento Ice SEL-MM. Black leather Wanted cadoxton slate. was told three months for this but they the one i got in the country.
  12. I like the leather on the steering weel. I agree that the FM reception is not that good. I dislike having to press the I agree every time I start the engine and my passenger not being able to use the sat nav. Other than that I love it.
  13. What did the Dealer Advise? Tel Was it supaguarded? A- No. Clean it regularly. Will take some rubbing to get rid of the marks. Polish it today (Unfortunately didn't have time and it's a bit too cold) If not bring it in and we can treat it for you. Didn't ask how much. They said they would use a clay bar so I think that answers it really.
  14. Went to the dealer today to get things checked out. Cruise Control - OK just doesn't function too well below 40mph but same as demonstrator car. Windscreen Wiper Deicer - OK - Just doesn't get as hot as I was led to believe. How embarrased am I. Loud click from centre console when leaning leg against it (Drivers Side) - Dealer has a car with the same problem and they will fix mine when they have found a solution. Rusty specs - definitely pollution. Wash today and tried to rub off. Most of them go with a bit of polish but some are pretty bad. Needed to rub quite hard with a cutting polish to remove :tsktsk: (Don't really want to be using this on a 3week old car ). The car is coverd in tiny brown specs! Some really hard to shift!. Not enough daytime today to get rid of many of them. Going to need a full days work I think. I Will have to find some good product to get rid of them. Any suggestions? Don't really fancy trying fairy liquid as previously suggested. Meguiars ScratchX or a clay bar (Meguiars Quik CLAY)? Do you guys rate Meguiars? Still I am gutted to be having to do this on a three week old car!
  15. I'm taking the car to the dealer tomorrow Friday (Whoops). I can imagine their response....."You should have had the car supaguarded " Will also check out the CC and Windsheild de-icer. Will let you know how i get on.
  16. Some of them are definitely stuck on the paintwork. Possibly they have sat there and corroded with the salt and water around this time of the year? I think I'm going to take it to the dealer to get his impression before I go near it with my washing mitt. Might give it a spray off with the pressure washer initially to get rid of most of the mess. What do you think?
  17. Possibly you didn't have auto levelling headlights before. Is this now not a legal requirement for HID
  18. Had another look this morning...... Seem to be a load more rust spots but a lot of them move so I am now under the impression that this is most probably pollution from the work they are doing the other side of my house, strengthening the river wall. There is a lot of steel cutting going on. Didn't have time to go and look at other cars in the area. I'm glad that it is probably not a paint fault but very worried that some of these small filings are bonding with the paintwork. Going for a long drive this weekend so will re test the Cruise Control. Possibly there is nothing at all wrong with my car but situations are conspiring against me. You know what its like when you buy a new car.
  19. I previously had a mercedes SLK which also had a limiter. Possibly this is why I don't think mine works properly on my IS250. There was a noticable slow down when selecting lower speeds. It might also be that my Windscreen Wiper/Deicer works correctly. I was just going by what I was told - to be careful when touching the screen as it gets v hot. (I think the manual also says this.) All will be known when I go out for a ride in a demonstrator to compare in a couple of weeks time. Possibly it's me just being too particular. I just want to make sure everything works as it should. Still Extremely happy with the car and definitely made the right choice.. Rust permitting
  20. I still think the cars fantastic although I do have a few minor issues. The windscreen wiper deicer does not seem to work properly. It barely gets warm whereas it should be hot to the touch. (so i'm led to believe). Not sure if the Cruise Control works properly. Perhaps you can help me. If you set speed at say 40mph and go downhill, does it hold the car at 40? Other cars I've driven with CC do hold the car at a constant speed but my Lexus does not. Loud click from the driver side of the centre console when leaning against it. Dealer will be looking at these issues when I take the car in. We will also go out in a demonstrator to compare the Cruise Control. Even so I still a extremely pleased with my purchase. Especially the MM pack. The sound is absolutely amazing.
  21. I'm going to take some photos next weekend when it's light. I've booked into take it into the dealers the weekend after (I'm going away next weekend) so if it is a big problem it will get worse. If it was a problem with the paint I would expect more people to have the same issue and be complaining on here. Hopefully it is just pollution. They are doing some work to strengthen the river wall near my house. There is a lot of metal cutting going on so you never know, although, I would expect it to be all over the car if that was the case. I'll be keeping a close eye on it. Any one else here with Argento Ice had a close look at their paint behind the rear window? There's no way i'll be going near my car with Fairy liquid! You're asking for trouble. :duh:
  22. Sorry to hear about your problems with the paint. DO you have a picture to post on the forum so we all know what to look out for? Tried to take some last night but camera wouldn't focus properly in macro mode as it was too dark. Will try to get some again tonight otherwise will have to wait until next weekend. Unfortunately it's dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home. I wouldn't have thought it was pollution as it's only evident in particular places. The inwardly curved areas like behind the rear door window. like tiny orange specks. Some washed away, some didn't.
  23. Gave my new IS250 its first wash today. Argento Ice. 2weeks old. Noticed small orange rusty looking specs in the paintwork in the inward curved areas on the body. :o Is this normal? Not seen anything like it before.
  24. I wanted Cadoxton slate for my SEL Auto MM but had 12 weeks lead time so got Argento Ice. Cadoxton Slate looks really cool and mean. Also looks fantastic in Argento Ice. :winky:
  25. Thanks guys. Feeling a little more reassured now. :duh: Especially re the ticking noise. I must say I didn't remember reading anything about a front windscreen deicer but when I had the handover the dealer told me to be careful as it gets very hot and it would clear my winscreen in a matter of seconds. Maybe they got it wrong.
