  1. I don't mind most of the reminders but the passenger seatbelt is very annoying if your a passenger and are about to get dropped off. You can't take your seatbelt off before the car is stationary. I would also prefer it if the satnav wasn't disabled while driving. I bet tomtoms arent.
  2. I now prefer the look of the large wing mirrors and find the wing mirros on other cars look small and strange. And the increased visibility
  3. I think DVD Audio is Multi channel and Higher bitrate than CD's so should sound fantastic on the ML. Not as high as SACD though
  4. I did try burning a cd of mp3. Ignoring the sound I also wasn't very impressed with the interface. All that screen real estate and they dont list every track (full name) in a small font on the screen at once.
  5. Did you know SEL (not sure if this is on other models) has a pollution sensor that switches aircon from recirc to external air depending on outside pollution levels. You can change the sensitivity when stationary buy holding the recirc external switch. I also noticed that the pollution sensor does not seem to work when it is less than 4 degrees C. You can tell because you start to get awful exhaust fume smells in the car when it is not working.
  6. MP3's are awful through the ML Sound system anyway. You can hear all the compression artifacts at 192kbps. Using a higher bit rate might remove some of this but then whats the point. Actually whats the point of paying for top end hifi and putting an mp3 through it???
  7. however the diesel should still be more economical than the larger petrol engine from new
  8. Well, yes! But it is a 6ish% increase... :o I've been averaging about 24mpg on a 250 SEL - MM (petrol) only 1800miles so far. I haven't been driving gently either :P :P I can't believe you only get that on a deisel
  9. I would have thought a recall would be in order if they know there are a number of faulty seatbelt assemblies out there. Driving without a seatbelty is illegal, as I had to do when my seatbelt was stuck. You also cannot concentrate very well with that awful alarm noise. :tsktsk: :tsktsk:
  10. Not in London. Medway, Kent - already has hosepipe ban apparantly although I only found out recently from the paper.. Sounds like its been inplace for a while
  11. Any ideas here. I haven't cleaned my IS250 since I found out there was a hosepipe ban in place in SE. I was looking to buy a suction hose for my pressure washer so I could suck water out of a big barrel I had filled from the tap. :P :P Now they are talking about banning cleaning cars!!!!!!! :tsktsk: :tsktsk: Any ideas on good cleaning tips just using a bucket. I don't want to go swirling grit around with my sponge.
  12. I agree. I love the large mirrors. Looks as well as functionality. I think they look tiny on other cars now.
  13. button is to the left of the speedo at the bottom. press to change between trip a, trip b and odo and hold to reset either trip a or trip b
  14. Well done Jamboo :) :) . Despite the rattles/seatbelt problems i'm still well impressed with the Lexus. Check out how solid the bodywork is.
  15. I wouldn't expect any rattles when you pick up the car. My IS250 did not rattle at all at first. It is starting to rattle/creak slightly from all around the dash and there is a noise behind the passenger seatbelt housing. (1700 miles) The rattles seem to be gradually getting worse. I also still have a loud clicking noise when leaning my leg against the centre console if the car is cold. The dealer has said they know how to fix this but they will need the car for a few days.It will invlolve removing the centreconsole and possibly the seats which may introduce other rattles. I could have had it done when I had the drivers seatbelt changed but wanted the car back. Still very pleased with the car. Did your Audi rattle at all? I find it hard to beleive any car is completely rattle/creak free. Materials all expand/shrink with fluctuations in temperature. Also remember the IS250 is very quiet inside so any slight rattle will seem relatively loud. I haven't taken the rattles up with the dealer yet, but once it starts to p1$$ me off I will be straight on the phone.
  16. Javeed How are your rattles now? I'm starting to get quite a few. I also have had to have the drivers seatbelt replaced as it jammed half pulled out. (Isn't the alarm annoying, beep.....beep....beep... for a while then it goes crazy beepbeepbeepbeep :tsktsk: :tsktsk: ). I'm expecting the other seatbelt to fail as well!! Sorry I'm also off topic. Hi Rattles are fine for the moment - Lexus replaced co-drivers seat last week, so rattle from the front is all sorted. Hope it remains that way....However if the rattles appear again, I shall pay a visit to my second home - Lexus Tunbridge Wells! :D Javeed I'm also with Lexus Tunbridge Wells!

  18. I had a strange musty smell the other day all day and then it went away again. I think sometimes you end up with water that sits in the Aircon system and goes musty. Once it's dried up it goes away
  19. I have an SEL and there are only 2 front sensors on it.
  20. Whats the difference between Kerb weight and Gross weight?
  21. Is that for real? Don't Range Rovers weigh 2 tonnes? no bull http://www.lexus.co.uk/lexus_cars/is_new/i...IONS+AND+WEIGHT 2055kg with the Auto!!! I think the BMW 325 is 500kg lighter which would explain the difference in acceleration!
  22. It's definitely metallic. It looked gorgeous under the Tunbridge wells showroom lights but unfortunately they could not get me one with nav quickly so i went for Argento Ice
  23. Slight change of subject but i'm quite impressed by how solid the body panels are. After having my IS250 for three weeks I got hit by some flying wood. I was on the M3 doing... 70mph :winky: in the outside lane. I didn't see it coming it was just suddenly there. I ran over two piles of planks of wood on the road and then someone in the middle lane ran over a plank and it flew up and hit me on the passenger side front wing. It made quite a bang. Someone had lost a load of planks of wood in the outside lane! The guy had pulled over a few hundred yards ahead. He had a trailer with loads of wood. What was he doing in the outside lane towing a trailer :tsktsk: I was gutted. I drove on to the next services and pulled over fuming, expecting to see a massive dent. There was nothing. A small mark in the lacquer. It hit me right between the door and the wing which i suppose is stronger around the folds. My last car. a pug 307 had body panels like paper. I suppose thats why the IS250 weighs in at 2045kg
  24. I picked mine up in Jan - IS250SEL MM - It has Bridgestones. I can't comment on the firmness of the ride or road noise as I have not experienced the Dunlops
  25. Sorry Jamboo its not goanna work like that. If you get out and run without turning the engine off your car can still be driven until 1) it runs out of fuel 2)the engine is turned off. It then cannot be restarted without the key near it obviously. In other words if the engine is running you can walk off without it stopping and all you get is a message saying “key out of range” on the dash, the engine continues to run. Time for some kevlar coating then! :winky: :winky:
