  1. Took the car into Lexus Canterbury last week, and they 'thought' that it was due to an exhaust valve burnt out. The car had started pinking like mad when running on LPG but just misfired on petrol (still a lot smoother than most cars :P ). Luckily, thanks to the fantastic Dangerous Brain (and his awesome Aristo), I've managed to source a secondhand head for a lot less than the £3,400 that Lexus actually quoted me (the service manager thought he had better look up the price just incase ). All that remains now is to pick up the head, a gasket set, a Flashlube kit and then screwing it all back together.
  2. :D Hi all, I've been here a few days and already been in contact with Dangerous Brain (been admiring his Aristo since I spotted it on TIF) about my problems . I own a 1994 GS300 LPG converted thats pretty standard, done 106k, but started pinking like mad after I put Optimax in it. It's getting "diagnosed" at Lexus, Canterbury this week and I'm hoping it's a case of resetting the ECU - If not, I'm hunting for a replacement head or arguing with the LPG converters (It's still under warranty!). Either way my next task is a full service and a valve lube system fitted. Managed to get this one after being talked out of :tsktsk: buying a 1990 LPG converted Celsior that had every toy imaginable, and even some that the seller didn't know it had. Neil
  3. Ouch! :duh: I've also just bought a 95 GS300 LPG converted and on the way home today it made a strange "Bang" sound, thought I had run over a big stone at first, but when it did it a few more times usually at 40-50mph, I got a bit worried. It idled terribly as well making me think it was only firing on 4 or 5 cylinder. There also seemed to be a weird 'crackling' sound and a burning smell emanating from the cat when I got home. After reading this post a day or two ago I ran it on optimax for a hundred miles or so the other day. I'm fearing the worst - any pointers??
  4. Dunno about Optimax or BP Super, but there are a few (Maidstone, Grove Green is one) Tesco stores that sell 99RON fuel. Personally I don't really have that problem because I have an LPG converted GS300 :D
