  1. Haven't quite had the same problem but the front flap that comes down needs to come down all the way for it to eject. When I had a tape or something in the boot that stopped it coming down all the way, I had the same problem.
  2. Think that this site may help you find the specs of the multitude of Jap cars. You can scroll down for the coupes.
  3. I'm not really sure whether mine has been using petrol or not as I tend to click it onto petrol whilst driving to help ensure it is lubed and also if a very swift burst of power is needed. Trouble is I forget and have driven a few miles before I notice . Mine does always start on petrol for about 1/2 mile as well though.
  4. Yeah thats what i was looking at doing and in that manner aswell. But i didnt want it to die out all of a sudden somewhere and then let air into it aswell as that could be a pricey mistake! But yeah im looking at filling it up and then emptying it as much as i can. That should give me a good idea of how much im getting out of it. I've run mine empty a few times and all that happened was that the engine spluttered a little, lost power, I pressed the switch back to petrol and left the frustrated drivers behind me for dust, as it usually happens just as I am executing an overtaking manoeuvre
  5. Why not a soarer V8 and then supercharge it?? I'm not certain but I imagine you may get the steering adjustments on that version.
  6. I wish it were that simple. I'm talking full to empty. I don't even bother reading the gauge because mine doesn't seem to work. Same here. I only ever fill mine to the brim due to the mileage I do. I must admit that most of my driving is a motorway commute of 100 miles a day on average, and I drive with a feather foot, :) mostly
  7. I too await the reply with relish. Mine does about 200 miles for every 10 gallons of LPG (about 44 litres) so I am getting roughly 20 MPG, usually just over and mine is a mark1 GS as well. If you are at medway you probably fill at Strood Morrisons like I do. I will be getting my LPG system serviced on 2nd April and will probably be asking all these questions and more while I am there. I will probably sort out some new leads at the same time as I know they need replacing.
  8. There is an LS400 (M Reg) in white that I pass every other day on my way to Morrisons to fill up with LPG. It's actually in a 2nd hand car stealership, but it has been in there for ages. It started off at £3295 and it's now at £2395. If you add on £1500 for an LPG conversion it's still under £4000. You can spend the (potential) change on an inspection. Mind you I've got no idea where Chester is, and this car is in Strood so it could be a trek!!
  9. 367,000 miles over 5 years would mean the car has done almost exactly 200 miles every day (including weekends, Bank Holidays etc.) I agree with everyone else, unless the car has been sat on a rolling road in an air conditioned, moisture free environment, the HPI figures have gained an extra zero. I agree with everyone else though. I picked up my LPG converted GS for £3,500 (including a head rebuild). It may not be the fastest thing on the road or the best looking, but it's bullet proof and miles better than anything else of it's age (apart from another Lexus of course :P ). If it's an Alfa, it was probably in the garage or not running :D
  10. found this as well... Excise duty is due on gas for use as road fuel. The most common forms of road fuel gas are liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and compressed natural gas. Following a consultation on how best to ensure that future support for road fuel gases continues to reflect environmental and other policy objectives, the 2003 Pre-Budget Report announced that the duty incentive for LPG would be decreased over time to a level more commensurate with its environmental benefits, and that the incentive relative to the main road fuels for natural gas would be maintained at its current level until 2007. To reflect the relative environmental benefits of the fuel more accurately Budget 2006 announced the duty differential between LPG and main road fuels will be reduced by the equivalent of 1 penny per litre each year to 2008-09 and that the duty differential between Natural Gas rates and main duty rates will be maintained each year until 2008-09. The rate of duty for LPG increased to 12.21 pence per kilogram and for natural gas to 10.81 pence per kilogram on 7 December 2006. This decision is in line with the established alternative fuels framework. Public Notice 76 Excise Duty on Gas for use as Fuel in Road Vehicles provides further, detailed information. The link tells you how to find out how heavy your LPG is because scales aren't that useful :D 1 litre = 0.5000 Kg 1 Kg = 2 Litres so my 70 litre tank weighs an extra 29Kg when full
  11. As Exobex states, get a flashlube system fitted. The majority of horror stories come from people either not having this system fitted or not running it on petrol enough (approx 1/4 of the time). The petrol thing is not really necessary with flashlube, but helps with the lubrication and all the other good things that unleaded has in it. LPG does run hotter and a lot cleaner - it has an octane rating of 112 IIRC. Regarding weight, I am sure I read somewhere that the gas in the tank is actually lighter than air so having the system fitted shouldn't affect the balance too much, certainly no more than having a suitcase or a bag of golf clubs or if you are a gangster, a bodybag in the boot. My GS has just done 45,000 miles since conversion with no major problems - the minor ones were due to the previous owners lack of servicing. If you are doing the mileage then it really is cost effective, and the V8s are supposedly a lot easier to convert than my 6 pot.
  12. Mine has had similar problems and they have been partly resolved by a new distributor cap and rotor arm. I do know I need a new set of leads but the price is a bit scary and they aint as simple to swap as most cars due to the :tsktsk: throttle body. I have also got my car booked in at the place the LPG system was installed for service as that is supposed to be done annually
  13. I've bought a Cat C motor before now. All that was wrong with the car was the tow-bar had got bent but because it was an unusual car (Citroen XM) they decided it was too badly damaged. This all happened to the previous owner while I was contemplating buying it, so I ended up with a bargain. All I had to do was take it to the local VOSA office and they assessed whether it was roadworthy or not for a fee (about the cost of an MOT I think). Having removed the offending tow-bar all that was wrong with the car was a few scratches and it sailed through. I think the lesson here is never trust your insurance assessor :D
  14. And here's a free list via the official LPGA site :P It's not a map but then google maps, multimap and streetmap et al are all free too!
  15. I use Morrisons and when I have emptied my tank it has taken up to 58 ltrs. I have a 70 ltr tank so an 80 ltr tank should take a bit more than 58 ltrs (another 8 using the 80% guideline). Can't comment about the flow rate as it varies for me using the same store - could be because the store's tanks were low that it runs slower.
  16. You should be able to tell if it's fitted because you will have a plastic bottle and probably a holder that are best described as looking just like the white, plastic drinks bottles that I used to buy and fit to my (push)bike when I was in my early teens and that always used to fall off :duh: The only difference will be it has a tube and a drip adjuster on it connected to one of the inlet pipes. They are very easy to fit if you have the basics of what the various air pipes floating around the top of your engine are. The instructions you get are very good anyway, so even if you are unsure, you could install it all and just ask your local mechanic which pipe to cut to fit the T-piece to. I wasn't aware that there was more than one type of kit - I think that this kit is exactly the same as this more expensive one, it's just a matter of advertising and marketing I paid about £32 for mine last may so the prices are about the same. In fact, the bottle in the middle of the pic on the cheap one is the one I'm talking about up there^^
  17. Work for the County Council sorting out schools budgets and flirting with (female) bursars/headteachers & colleagues. I'm very skilled at Excel and create spreadsheets for schools to calculate salaries & budgets for 3 years and then monitor them monthly. KCC have only just considered dragging themselves out the dark ages and upgrading from Office 97....I'm still waiting
  18. This Tyre calc linky should give you the differences and how much your speedo should be out by.
  19. How about an electric motor, with a winch-type assembly and some string treaded through a small whole (in whatever your lifting) with a knot in the end. You could probably get all of that from a meccano kit :P I failed my CDT O'Level btw so that probably explains my lack of imagination and the cheapness of my selection
  20. I'm in Margate and because of a severe lack of specialists up this end of the county I travel to TLS in Sutton. Their expertise makes up for the 160 mile round-trip and they are very knowledgeable about the imports etc. Linky They sometimes contribute to the TIF as the Soarer is their favourite :P
  21. I think there may be something in Yellowlawn's thread about how good the Celsior is as well. I was talked out of buying one and regretted it ever since. As far as I could tell, the mechanicals are pretty much the same, but the Celsior is a lot higher spec and has more toys etc. Oh yeah, and being from the JDM it will be limited to 180 kmh/112 mph although this is usually removed by previous owners. I'm sure the Celsior owners will give you a more knowledgeable answer though :D
  22. My cars too old to have a snow button (unless it's hidden somewhere) but I do remember my Skoda Estelle - that used to be great in the snow. Skinny tyres with a great lump of an iron/alloy engine giving em loads of grip that all the other euro-boxes were afraid of :P
  23. Exobex - if yours is a Romano system, they are very good and a bit better than our single point systems - mind you the multi-point systems cost a bit more as well, hence the auto switching when it runs dry. You have the Jap-spec LS of LPG systems (with a hint of Italian thrown in)! I Don't get gas smells either but mine has given a few blowbacks recently, but that is because my car needs new leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm - they are very worn. Mine doesn't have VVTI so that aint the cause, but it does stall occasionally if I switch between the two and the car isn't warm enough to cope, but as Usuf says, it's only occasionally so I just put it in neutral, restart and carry on as normal.
