Import Rear Lights
Alex JB replied to Alex JB's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
So you think if I got a boot lid from a Celsior it would fit the lights? Next question is would the celsior boot lid fit straight onto the UK LS? May not bother but I like the fact that the boot lid and number plate space would be a little differnt from other UK cars. :winky: -
Tried to post this yesterday but failed. I bought these rear lights from the US and was tolod that all parts were the same with UK & US cars... Not true. These inside sections are loads longer than mine so I can only use half the bits Not sure waht to do but I like the other sections and they were cheaper than buying secondhand from a breaker. http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/album_phot..._photo=71632872

Hi I don't know your year but according to the wiring diagram for a 1994 there are 3 wires to the power window switch on the nearside rear door. Connecting Blue to Blue/Yellow should wind the window up and Blue to Green/Yellow should wind the window down. The blue wire is the 12v supply which is the common supply to all the windows. Steve It's a 92 but I got my manuals on CD this morning so got the wire diagram :winky: You are right about the wires and this suggests that the grn/yel wire bteween door and master switch is broken. winding down is blue to blue yel but up is blue to grn/yel = not working Also master switch does not work either way... Suggests 12v is connected by blu/yel to grn/yel for up and grn/yel to blu/yel for down. Just need to rip half the interior out now to follow the continuity back to the break! :tsktsk:

I'm quite new to my LS too and I'm having fun sorting out her little problems, apart from the rear window... My LHS rear window only goes down not up! I have had the door card off and put 12v on the window motor to drive it back up and it went up fine. The switch on the drivers door does nothing for the window and just the one on that door drives it down only. (I found this out on the motorway when my 18month old boy figured out the button and wound it down then cried untill I stopped at the motorway services! After dismantling a cigarete lighter based phone charger and lots of cursing I drove the window back up!.) I swapped switches from RHS rear door to LHS rear door and problem stays on LHS door... Anyone else had an issue like this? I've ordered a CD manual off e-bay so hoping the wiring diagram could help

Steering Failure

That's great to know thanks. Does anyone have a hydraulic schemaitc or cross sectional view of this valve.... I know a bit about hydraulics but can't figure this valve from the posts so far, I'm interested in how it works -

Hi All, I'm also interested to hear what you did to solve your issue, I'm just starting to get noise from my steering (sounds like the pump) and although I have not lost any power I am concerned that the problem goes away when the car get's warm but each day takes a little longer to go away... My car had a new pump about 6k miles ago so I thought I would not have any probs and tried the lock to lock test when I bought it - silent as you like. I'm V worried this sounds like an expensive job. -

Ah... Problem solved! -
I'm considering the IS200 wheels 17" on my LS, I like that wheel loads but I'm concerned that the ofset for IS200 is claimes to be anything from 38 to 45mm, The LS however could be anything from 40 to 50mm from what I have read. Anyone sure of what the LS is for 15" 92 wheeled car and has anyone had trouble withrubbing inside on steer lock with the smaller offset? Cheers.

It's easy to work out... 205x65 on 15" = 15" x 25.4/2 = 190.2 (wheel radius in mm) 205 X 65% = 133.3 (aditional radius of tyre on top of wheel in mm) Total = 323.5mm Same for 18" 18" x 25.4/2 = 228 (wheel radius in mm) 225 X 45% = 101 (aditional radius of tyre on top of wheel in mm) Total = 329mm Bigger wheels and wider rubber needs smaler profile to keep your speedo something like! I Checked my speedo with GPS and at 70mph indicated the actual was 65.5. This is 7% out, this means that a little larger rolling radius should only go towards correcting the speedo example above increased rolling radius by 2% so you could probably even go up to 225x50 on 18's Hope I'm not just stating the obvious ;)

Helpful Info Please

I'm 1 week into my LS coming from a Celica. I find that now I get to work without having to felt the need to burn a chav nova off the lights :winky: I'm ready for my day after the 15 mile drive not pent up! Every one's right about the body roll though compared to a Jap sports car, having said that the road holding isn't bad. -
My New Ride
Alex JB replied to Alex JB's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Swaped it for my 94 Celica import with 150k on the clock! (paid 2k for it 1 year ago) sticker price on it was 2200 so he's probably have gone to 1800 for cash after hagling. Maybe not a perfect deal but I love the car and it got the wife off my back... now I have rear doors to get at the baby seat! :winky: -
I thought I.d be sad to see my Celica go and I have to admit I miss the cornering but I'm loving the ride of the Lexus and considering it's a 14yr old car it's much more luxurious than my wife's 04 Megane scenic! My freind (who recently traded up in size but down in years to a BMW530 estate) describes it as 'lording it over those common little 4bangers'... I've nothing against 4 cyl engines, but I'm now convinced V8 is the way! Any way, thanks for the advice so far and here's a couple of pics. Needs sometidying up but... lex1 Lex2 Lex3

Hi Folks, I bought the LS I went to look at :D Engine trans and all mechanics are perfect. All electrical items work apart from both cigarete lighters!? I looked through my owners manual and had a look in the fuse box but I can't find any fuses gone. Is there anything else to try? I don't want to have to hack into the wiring somewhere to power my phone sat nav ect. Cheers.

Hi, Went to see my third (last two were rough so didn't bother driving them) and drove it, all suspension seemd OK as this is what everyone says to check, however... There was a real whine from the transmission but engine sounded fine. Is this normal? I'm not gona buy it as the climate screen was black, all 4 tyres barely legal, has no history after 110k (done 180k) and power steering was leaking. pitty as it's a 95 M with the later kit and in the nice silver. Hopefully the one I'm going to see on wed will be better, but it's older 93 K, and in the red I like the cream leather it has though :) , be spending time inside not outside!.
