You could go the way I did... I needed more 12v sockets for gps, pda/phone and blue tooth headset charging, so I took up the base out of the tray in the arm rest took the tray out, under there is the wires to the rear facing cigy socket and I bought a 1 male to 3 female adaptor for about 3 quid from flea bay, cut off the male striped back and soldered it to the wires to the rear cigy socket (drilled a 5mm hole in the tray and fed the wires through first). Now I have 3 sockets to charge stuff and all of it can be out of view in the arm rest so no cheeky monkey ties to break in just to steal a blue tooth headset ect.

like the title says, any one converted from springs and struts to air? I know many US guys have gone the other way as the replacement bags can be expensive but I love the ride from air (experienced it in many lowriders) and given the oportunity with a donor scrap celsior out of japan, I'd love to do it.

Air suspension is the way forward. If it works for Rolls Royce / Bentley... the LS will ne be far behind the top marques for ride quality with air. Lots of the US guys swear by the air ride and many companies now make aftermarket (new for old swaps) air bags that cost not much more than a brand new gas strut and spring would cost you from a main dealer. I'm not in your league with my 92 S1, but I have been in several large merc coupes that have been converted to aftermarket air and their ride got better after the conversion. LS430 is the way forward :D (if only I could aford one too)

MAGIC, who converts an LS for £1600, I have been quoted £2500. The guy in Leicester quoted me that. He said it could be up to 150quid more if I wanted a spare wheel type tank. Leicester Autogas Services The Grange Station Street Whetstone Leicester LE8 6JS Tel: 01162 862701 -

Great news steve! Hoping to have the same next year, mine flew through, the seller was so confident that he left it to the day I went to see it to put it throught. -
I had a 'parking incident' a week or two ago... (first car with no rear wipe and long boot) I have taken the car to a paint guy and was planning on having it fixed next week. This weekend however I was cleaning the wife's people pig ang I noticed that the primer that seemed to be showing through my paint in my dent seemed to be on the outside of the car paint. Lot's of T cut later it seems that all the grey primer was lampost paint not primer and the LS paint is unbroken! Considering the dent is A3 paper sixe and 50mm deep I pushed most of it out and the paint is still unbroken! How thick/maluable is this stuff?! I'm gona live with the pushed out dent for now untill I can afford a respray on this pannell and both bumpers (scuffed by previous owner) but I don't think the re-spray is going to get close to the smoothness and depth of paint that is there... just annoyed I dented it in the first place! What is later model LS paint like? There's a brend new IS parked outside my squash club and it seems quite Orangepeely.

Cig Ligter Fuse
Alex JB replied to kishore's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Correct! :D Should even be a spare in there. I had the same issue with my 92, looked at all the fuses in the engine bay and none blown... this was why! -
Nitrogen pre-charge suggests a piston or bladder accumulator, which is usually linked to something hydraulic. sounds like ABS to me. Let us know... One thing though, DON'T TAKE IT OFF, it will more than likely be charged and needs discharging carefully before removal... but you probably knew that already.

Appreciate the replys, I'll call the Leics guy and have a chat. Nottingham is do-able too. Thanks.

Hi all, I recently received some parking damage to my LS Does anyone have recomendations for a minor repair/paint shop in the Leicester area? I need a couple of small areas touched up at the same time and would like my side repeaters removed so I'd be prepaired to get the bits of body work done first by a friend then take it to a painters also. Any suggestions welcome.

New Ls460
Alex JB replied to swfcdan's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I love the fact that the reviewers effectively thought it was understated... Job well done by the design boys I say, surely 'the best but not shouting about it' is the whole idea. However, I think it could even stand a little pimpin in the right hands... I think it will take over from S class and Escalade as the gangsta's choice! :winky: -

Import Rear Lights
Alex JB replied to Alex JB's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Hiya, Yes the lights were a straight swap electrically (outer sections) and I'm happy with the fit and the light they omit, pleased I get them even though the inners didn't fit. :D -
Hi, I followed the super helpfull LexLS guide to flushing out the power steer fluid as I was getting a groan (pump cavitating) from the system in the mornings untill it warmed up. All was going well untill the hose from the return into the bucket came apart where my shoddy temporary join was. this resulted in 1/2 litre of PS fluid all over the driveway and spattered all over the engine bay, at the same time what I can only describe as a big burp came from the resevior. After I stopped, cleaned up and decided that I'd done enough 3 litres used including spillage (thought I'd probably blown out the pump seals) I seemed to have the resevoir overfilled so had to suck some out. My question for anyone who has messed with the PS system are:- Did you see dramatic effects after flushing? Did you have a 'burp' during the process? Do you think there is somewhere in the system that air can stay trapped that this process can remove? The long and short is it's now super quiet and the steer wheel effort is even lower than before. :winky: Went through a multi storey car park in Birmingham thisafternoon and I did it with the windows down just to hear the engine for once, not the PS pump whine when cold!

Hi All, I have ben reading some historic posts on the ATF thing and almost everyone seems to say use Toyota T-IV and NOTHING ELSE. I understand this concern but I deal with oils everyday for a living and I cannot see that Mobil ATF-3309 is not suitable also. It comes down to the lubricity properties and the viscosity index which the 3309 is designed to meet. The only reason I drag this one up again is that I was planning on flushing this weekend and maybe changing the strainer too but when my local Toyota dealer daid it was over 50 quid plus vat for a 5 litre container of T-IV (08886-82025) I nearly choked! I'm loving the Lexus LS ride but to flush out is gona take at lease 9 litres... if it runs into 3 of these containers... I could buy another cheap car to go to work in and leave the LS on the drive just to look good! B) For info I have pasted some info from the Mobil site about their 3309 ATF and here's the web site Applications Mobil ATF 3309 is recommended for use in transmissions made by Aisin-Warner requiring fluids approved against JWS 3309 or GM 9986195. It is also recommended for service fill applications where Toyota T-IV, T4, T-III or T3 are called for. Please refer to the owners’ manual for proper fluid requirements. Back to Top Specifications and Approvals MOBIL ATF 3309 meets the following specifications Model Part No. or specification Audi TT, A3 G-052-025-A2 Ford Five Hundred Montego WSS-M2C924-A Lexus Most models JWS 3309/Type T-IV Mitsubishi Fuso FE 2005 and newer vehicles Porsche Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo JWS 3309/Type T-IV Saab 9.3, 9.5 All 5-speed automatics Saturn Vue, Ion GM9986195 Toyota Most models JW 3309/Type T-IV

Interested to hear if your tickover has settled down properly to the normal 850rpm ish? Also is you K&N a pannel filter inside the stock airbox or a replacement sock/cone type? I like the idea od a replacement pannel, had K&N pannel filters on other cars and thought they were very good, but I don't like the noise from cone filters... bit boyracer for me :winky:

Import Rear Lights
Alex JB replied to Alex JB's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Celsior rear inner ( boot lid) lights are wider than the Uk spec LS400 due to the number plate being a different shape and size, also I think the boot lock is also placed differently. Looking at the 2 styles the import boot lid would fit I think as it is only the light cluster that is different but you would have to have a US style plate like mine. Here is a link to a picture of my Celsior to give you an idea of the differences. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e191/ste...exusrear002.jpg Yup, Thats them, thanks for the pick. As you say the boot key is further in too. I plan to cut out the reversing light from my inner section and replace it with some clear lense (to make it match the new outers), but I think I'll use a light from a scrap yard as the donor material, maybe do a trial run first too on my LHS inner as it's already broke in the red part and whole thing needs replaceing. Any one with a Celsior in need of new inner lights with clear centre section? A V low cost deal could be struck... :D
