  1. I've used Adaptive Cruise for the past three years and think it is just great. Heavy motorway traffic is a breese when using it with the full distance setting on. How do you switch it to normal cruise, I seem to remember seeing this in the manual but could not get it to work. As to picking up wagons or other vehilcles on bends, this is normal. I did ask Chester Lexus if they could adjust the beam to a more narrow setting so as to overcome this but they said that was not possible. Still the best add-on I have ever used, and I hope it is on the RX 450 that I'm going to get later in the year.
  2. Hi I wonder if anyone else misses the lack of folding rear seats in their IS. I don't need to carry things that need extra length very often, but when I do it's a real pain. Went to IKEA the other day, I'm hope no one filmed my antics getting the two 1.9 metre flat packs into the car, what an embarrassment. It would be a useful addition if Lexus were to include this feature in any future upgrade/facelift. Anyone else think the same.
  3. I had a similar problem recently. Seemed to go away when I put the keys in a different pocket from my mobile phone. Just a thought.............
  4. This happened to me with Esure, I insisted that the work be carried out by the Lexus approved body shop and they agreed. Both sides and rear bumper have been done now, but you cannot tell. Best paint jobs I've ever seen. The car was one month old when someone decided that it would look better with a rock scraped from the front to the back on the near side. The second one was on the other side when I discovered a manufacturing paint fault on the rear offside door. They painted the whole offside then. Two years on paintwork appears as good as when it came out of the showroom. Insist on the Lexus approved bodyshop which will use only the Lexus approved paint, others will not necessarily do this.
  5. If only we could wire the things up to a generator !! I'm working on wiring each valve cap to a very large capacitor, should really link this to a CCTV, it would be such a pity to miss the resulting antics........he he....... :winky: :winky: By the way the spinning caps work well, after I lost my last locking ones with the Lexus emblem on I fitted them, OK so far.
  6. Get it done on the insurance. Someone took a rock to the nearside of mine when it was a month old. Cost me £100 excess for the vandalism. Whole side painted, immaculate job done by the Lexus approved paintshop from Lexus Chester. 3 months later I noticed a paint fault on the offside rear door, whole of offside and the rear bumper resprayed (next door neigbour had a blonde moment but owned up to it). There is absolutley no difference discernible from the original paint job and it is two years old this month. I could not have looked at the car every day with that damage, and as to them doing it a again, I've found that a double barreled shotgun works wonders ;-] !!
  7. Absolutely agree. Go for the IS250SE-L, I have had mine for 18 months now and it's never put a foot wrong. Still a pleasure to drive and own :D
  8. Buzzers, Not seeing full telephone directory when on move, Safety start up menu EVERY time I start the car; and I guess DVD on the move would be fun too!!! Yes great fun ......... right up to hitting the car in front or running over someone :tsktsk:
  9. Lexus Chester wanted £297 for painting a rear bumper not including supplying a new one, I think you could find your price a little light. Anyway why not claim off the insurance, still bound to be cheaper than paying for it, even with the excess. Someone might even have driven in to the car while you where not present. :winky:
  10. There is a national Lexus price for doing paintwork. However if you ask your local Lexus dealer nicely who the approved Lexus Paintshop lis locally, you can approach them as an individual. My next door neighbour hit my rear bumper with her Merc whilst parking. I obtained a quote from my Lexus Dealer for £297 for respraying the whole bumper. Now as my neighbour is in the motor trade she thought this was rather high she approached the Lexus approved sprayshop direct and managed to save abpprox £180 that the dealership would just add on for handling the job. Makes sense to try and gert the work done by the approved Lexus paintshop but without the excessive overhead of the dealership. Best of luck, my IS250 is 11 months old now and has had the whole of the nearside respayed thanks to some a**hole with a rock, and the offside rear door due to a paint fault from new. The approved paintshop has done all of this work very well.
  11. I have just driven from the Wirral to Blackpool and back. A total distance of approx 140 miles. At 70mph with ECT and cruise on the avg fuel consumption went up to 38.4. I have also achieved this when commuting to Manchester. Normal reading is around 31 to 33mpg.
  12. Hi Eunos800 I also have an IS250 SE-L MM. Bought it in late August last year. Apart from some scrote running a brick down the nearside two weeks after taking delivery it has performed brilliantly. I do not have any rattles or other problems that other people on this forum seem to be experiencing. The thing that does concerm me about your disgraceful experiences with your Lexus dealer is that as I live on the Wirral it might well be one and the same. Is the dealer on the Wirral the one you have had problems with? Since I have had this car they have performed very well, however before they had Lexus they had Mitsubishi and I had several major problems with them. Although in fairness the chap who is the service manager now is excellent and goes out of his way to make sure things are done to everyones satisfaction. Good Luck anyway I hope you get a satisfactory conclusion soon.
  13. Piracy Statement Removed.
  14. Hi I have the IS 250 SE-L with everything except the sunroof, your a long time dead ;o) The adaptive cruise control works absolutly great. True it has picked the occasional wagon up in the adjacent lane on tight bends but very rarely and you only have to touch the throttle to overcome the brakes. It laso ties in with the pre-crash system which is pretty scary when it operates. Going down a narrow country lane in the rain it picked up a transit van coming towards me as I was braking. The seat tensioners operated immediately and dragged me back into the seat so that should I have failed to stop I would not have been thrown forward. I think maybe I may have skidded slightly as I braked although I was not moving too quickly, this may have set off the PCS. But the Cruise control really is a great addition, well worth having. :D :D
