  1. sorry to hear about your problems. I have had my Lex fr 2 months an has been absolutely brilliant. I only paid £7k for a 2001 model and of the 20 odd card i have owned its the best car by a long shot. that includes several brand new cars. my advice flog the B and buy another sounds like you have a friday Afternoon car
  2. Funny you should say that my mate got an A4 and his has been back several times to Audi with niggles.
  3. I think it more depends on how well it was treated durign those 100k. Ex company cars have usually got Lexus service history but sometimes company car drivers dont give a ***** on how they drive. If your unsure then pay for RAC or AA to look over the car before comiting to buy. Nothing worse than getting a good deal to find its a lemon.
  4. More Detailed version??? ok this is my 3rd post and last .. thought I would try help pople with problems on this forum as I have access to all official lexus manuals but seems there are people who have far more knowledge then me with 17yrs experience actually working on these cars Happy Driving everyone To make your Lexus remember your key's wireless signal: For the remote part in drivers seat WITH DOOR OPEN. Start with door unlocked. 1. Put master key in ignition, turn to on, then back off and remove. 2. Using the lock/unlock button on drivers door. press lock.. then unlock 5 times.(lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock,un lock, lock, unlock) 3. Close drivers door, open drivers door. 4. Perform lock/unlock procedure again. DO NOT close and open drivers door. Just the lock/unlock procedure again. 5. Insert NEW key in to ignition and turn to on, then back off and remove.(at this point the doors should lock and unlock by themselves ONCE) 6. Now press both lock and unlock buttons on REMOTE. Release after about 1.5 seconds. 7. Now press just the lock button on remote. once you press the lock button, the car should lock and unlock ONCE, if it lock unlocked TWICE you messed up somewhere. 8. Now open and close the drivers door a couple times to close programming. if you did it right, remote will now work. There you go, this version has a bit more information if thats the way you feel because someone said there is a version with more info..... you can pick the dummy and the teddy bear off the floor on your way out then .... jeeeessss some people are sooo sensitive these days. this is different to what i tried with the ebay key i cant get to work. I can get the remote bit to work the imobaliser but not the remote locking. I was switching actual KEY parts over with the transponders untill i can see if i can get the key cut i hope this isnt fukign things up/ I will try this tonight.
  5. When i were a lad. (got i love that saying) you did anythign like that someone was at your door sayign to my parents it was me and i got a good kicking. Nowadays you turn up at someoens door and accuse them of anythign the parents want proof before they believe you. No wonder we have a chav culture no ****** will give them kids a good slap.
  6. Sounds like you have a Friday Afternoon car. Kick up as much stink with lexus as you can. We had the same witht he wifes vauxhall and ended up getting free servicing and a pile of freebies. Luckily cos we did so much milage in the car all the kinks seem to have gotten ironed out over the 3 years we had a warranty. touch wood its been fine since then. Bun in answer to some of the questions raised. No i would NEVER buy a new car again or even an nearly new early model car. The Meriva we have was brand spankers and was only out a couple of months when we took delivery. The problems we had with getting parts, even getting Carpet Mats was a joke. I think all car manufacturers are having problems with Build quality except Ford. They went throgh the bad build quality curve years ago and learned from it. Mercedes have tried to slash build costs and have now got a bad reputation for quality i really hope Lexus dont do the same.
  7. IM still having problems with the key. No one will cut a key as if they eff up then your out of pocket £50 for a new blank. I managed to get the remote to marry with the imobaliser but getting the alarm system to switch off and the remote locking to work is non existant. Ben is right though. it cost e £53 for the key, it can cost £20 for it to get cut and even then i dont have a useable key as it wont enable disable the alarm. I filed a claim with ebay as the guy who sold me the key insisted it worked so we will see if i get any money back. If i do im going to Lexus and using my Gold Discount and getting a key the proper way.
  8. Try driving the Wifes Meriva. 0-60 in a fortnight
  9. I read that in the shop and being a cheapskate scotsman took a photo of the page on my phone so i could go and buy them. picture didnt come out and by the time i got back to the newsagents it was sold out. Glad you posted that cos im going to order the bulbs from Halfords.
  10. A woman walked into a Lexus dealership to browse, and spotted the most beautiful, perfect "loaded" Lexus. She walked over to inspect it more closely. As she bent forward to feel the fine leather upholstery, an unexpected little burst of flatulence escaped her. Very embarrassed, she anxiously looked around to see if anyone had noticed. There, standing right behind her, was a salesman. With a pleasant smile he greeted her, "Good day, Madame. How may we help you today?" Trying to maintain an air of sophistication and acting as though nothing had happened, she smiled back and asked, "Sir, what is the price of this lovely vehicle?" Still smiling pleasantly, he replied, "Madame, I'm very sorry to say that if you farted just touching it, you're gonna ***** when you hear the price."
  11. Bosch 22" and 19" available from any Halfords or Garage. replace the whole wiper blade not just the rubber its not that much more and its a hell of alot easier to change and less likely to make a mess of it.
  12. Anyone know what Wipers hey are? I have a feelign my wipers are too big hence the noise Got them replaced 22" and 19" for future reference dotn know if there is any nmoise yet as its not rained. we think the spoiler was hitting the windscreen on its return leg so we replaced the wipers with Boshe ones sans spoiler.
  13. Anyone know what Wipers hey are? I have a feelign my wipers are too big hence the noise
  14. Is this a Canadian transponder? If so you won't have much luck, I believe Canadian keys, like US keys, use a frequency of 315Mhz rather than the 433Mhz used in the UK. I feared as much. :tsktsk: cost me £50 too.
  15. I still have to say this cos i myself dont believe it. My initial quote when i was buying the car was 750 I picked up my jacket and told the salesman that i wasnt paying 750 insurance on a car so i wasnt buying the lex. When the colour returned to his face he offered my an extra £250 off my car if i could get £250 off the insurance with another company he suggested. Well to to my luck i got the insurance down to £500 and pocketed an extra £250 off the cost of the car. THEN things got better. Wife and i did some tinternet quotes and came up with a Multicar Policy with Admiral. Isuring Both my car and the Wifes car Moving the larger no claims onto the Lex and including the extra % for monthly payments we worked out at £520 for BOTH cars. hell from what was going to be nearly a £1k combined insurance bill halfed all down to a bit of good searching online.
  16. put a car computer in i have one and it brill you can have as many song as you wont and the vids to go with it and the internet i could be here for a ong time with the pros To be honest mate have never seen the thing with carputers. Probably the most useless waste of circuitry in a car. Im an IT Consultant and love computers but still to this day have no real reason to have a PC in my car. (although i do have a unit i could adapt for car use) If i want one I switch on my laptop. My ipod holds my tunes and is easier to navigate, My 8gb nano holds enough music for me to listen to during my commute for a month, I have tomtom on my Palm so got satnav covered as for internet access hell i have a nice warm house with 8Mb Broadband. Gaming?? I have a psp so no need for a PC. I spend my time in the car Driving (and paying attention to the road) so music and Radio to me is more important than TV/DVD/PC's. PLUS a head unit is easier to fit than getting 12v power supplies, touch screen monitors, and mounting units into the car. Cheaper too if you think of the cost of the kit and LICENCES (like anyone would ever copy software illegaly in here) Sorry to kick up a storm with all you Carputer nuts but personally they are a waste of time and money.
  17. Ok my failed attempt at doing a double din screen hasnt actually put me off. Im still wanting a screen and looking at the Kenwood ddx-6029 unit which i can get for £440 (not fitted.) thing is the kenwoods add on the Ipod adapter for £60 and for another £20 i can get the steering wheel controls (which i do miss on my 2001 lex) now the wife is almost bought round on it and im still a bit hummiing and hawing over spending £520 on a head unit. But i was going to spend £450 anyway. Well here is it. what do you ICE people think of the unit and what else can you recommend?
  18. cheers for the offer mate but i only have the 1 key.
  19. im in the same boat. anyone got an answer yet?
  20. Ah great news - I'll take it to a proper locksmith who does car keys and get it done properly. The plastic surround broke in my pocket when I was crouching down to clean my wheels :P So yes I still have the internals of the fob bit which fit into the new key no probs. No need for the open-the-door-30-times-whilst-doing-handstand reprogramming business. h I just got they key from that canadian guy. I cant get anywhere willing to cut the key. Went to 4 locksmiths and not one of them had a laser cutter. went to A1 autostores and the manager said he wasnt willing to take the risk cutting it. Will anyone cut the bloody thing. I got the imobaliser programmed to the transponder but i cant get the remote function to work. need to do more handstands
  21. You have any pics of how it looks? i plan to get up a pile of pics later this weekend
  22. Got rid of it on Ebay. Back to my standard car setup now. Lookign about for a Screen system thats glows orange. Someone said the Kenwoods do so i may look into that after the year
