  1. Just wondering where the temperature sensor is situated. The one that gives the reading on the heater control panel on the dash. As im not entirely convinced that mine is working properly...it stayed on 16 for a 2 hr drive and i know well enough its about 25 at least! But then it eventually went up to 25 (but 2 hrs ?!!?). Also seems to stay at 16 most of the time. I did have the control panel out but i can't see it causing a problem just unplugging and plugging back the connections...don't say i have to do something stupid like disconnect the battery just cuz i disconencted the connections to the heater control panel! Although i remeber i had to reset the clock again as for some reason it went forward like 10 minutes lol

Isnt it near the passenger side headlight

  2. Great install however a couple of questions

Why power caps? you have enough Battery power there to run a small country I would personally take them out as they wont help voltage stability.

I would personally also re think the kit used the rainbow comps are awesome but coupling them with the 6*9s kenwood and and those subs is going to waste what great potential they have.

Great installation skills though I would never have the guts to do that to my car

  3. ive got standard hids on my limited editon is200 but i dont know what value they are, does anyone know?

i'm looking to upgrade the bulbs aswell as a conversion kit for the main beam and fog lights to 8000k

ive seen these on the net cheap hids but they are only 6000k and i want 8000k

has anyone got any pics of both values so i could compare what they look like? if the 6000k are not what im after i can get the bulbs to upgrade to 8000k and both kits for £250, so either way ill be happy but id rather pay £95 ($190) for the 6000k kits

    cheers guys...

You dont need a conversion kit you just need bulbs

Why would you have to replace all the cables? Cant you just swap out the unit?

  5. Your happy paying 2k a year insurance? WOW!!!

As for fuel 50 quid should get you about 300 mile on a decent trip but not much more I wouldnt have thought.

I wouldnt be put off having an 85K plus car however make sure its had its belt changed and see if the water pump was done at the same time.

Other faults would include ball joints so have a nosy around there for movement etc. Lastly check the inside tire wear the geometry was out from factory which causing inside tyre problems so check them out. Its an easy fix but something that should be looked out for

  6. Just bought myself (after many wasted journeys) a excellent example IS200 Sport in black with the styling kit & navigation and am well chuffed, but now i just want to add my mark on it.

Does anyone know if the lights are the same as mine or the HID ones,is it possible to fit the HID ones to mine.

Also the IS with style kit doesnt have the sport badge on the grille, does anyone know if these are available anywhere as my local Lexus dealer doesnt know

    what year is yours?

    A 52 plate

I dont think yours are the darker satin ones then

  8. hey people, in about 4 weeks I'm going to have around 7-8k to be buy a car... now my previous car was a vectra, it was fast when i wanted it too be and reliable.

This is why i come to you, i have a shortlist and would like you lot to convince me. here goes...

the new vectra, an impreza, and the IS200 sport (is sport the best one to get?)

The Lexus kinda is in front slightly but i know nothing about them, comfortable, MPG, reliable, expensive to fix etc...

    Hi and welcome.

Depending on what you want you can go for either the se or the sport the sport is a bit lower and has an lsd but thats about it.

I terms of the general is200 questions

they are very comfortable especially long distance they are extremely reliable however the know on effect to that is that they do drink fuel and when it comes to fixing and servicing what little does need changing does cost a bit. No more than merc or bm just probably a bit more than general motors

  9. Just a thought could you all write down how old you car is how many miles its done and what sort of life its had mostly motorway etc and also when was it last serviced and was it a big or little service

mines an 05 plate has done 32K was serviced at 30K I dont know what sort of life it had but im guessing motorway and it know does the 5 miles commute to work and back

  10. How much will a poor geometry affect fuel consumption. Anyone know??

im going to take a sub par educated guess here and say that fixing the geo will reduce your mpg.

more of the tyre on the road means it has more grip, which i guess in turn means more effort to roll it.

i think hot weather has something to do with economy...

ive had mine for 4months now, and i was used to getting 400miles out of 60ltrs [light comes on for last 10ltrs], but the last 2 tank fulls, im getting only 320ish... ive lost nearly 20% in mpg.

    odd really!

Id say hotter temperature would lower fuel usage as the air is warmer and less dense in turn cousing you to use more fuel in winter

  11. Hi. Very happy with my Lexus is200 Sport except my headlamps never seem quite bright enough (apart from when they're on full beam of course :shifty: so one dark night I tried all the lights out... low beam, ordinary beam, full beam and realised that I have two lamps (which I assume are fog lamps that didn't come on at all. So I look again at my dashboard and to the right of my sterring wheel I have the wheel that raises/lowers the lamps, the wheel that changes dashboard brightness, the button that washes the headlamps and the button that turns on rear fogs (as labelled) but I can't find the one that turns on the front ones. I know I'm being daft here so I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance

Theres 4 settings for the normal lights off, sidelight, low beam and auto. Try the auto option and see if that helps as that will make sure the right ones come on at the right time
