  1. I've just done 610 miles (mainly motoray) this week in mine. It runs better than ever, on a single tank of Diesel, and the trip showed I had 10 miles worth of fuel when I filled up. That's the furthest I've ever taken it on a single tank. Surely not on one tank???? :o :o :o
  2. Not improved, its worse! But following reading other posts, I have been to sunny Clackton today, 310 mile round trip and tried the change gear @ 2000 mile trick. Shock horror! it can be done until you get to 6th gear. Very boring drive and only pushes the mpg upto 34. Scarey stuff from the mole though! Wonder if it would stand up in court?? :shutit:
  3. Jamboo Im sure that the person at Newcastle said "re-programme" and that a Lexus Regional Manager had been briefing them the day before. But who knows? Unless someone knows a friendly Lexus Technician in order to clarify what is really being done? Perhaps the others who have posted and had the work done can confirm or not? I think this may lead to another call to Newcastle or Bradford!! It's a re-map of the ECU and they also check the CAT & fuel jet pump. Made no difference to my car, that I even questioned had the work even taken place! Leicester repeated to work still with no joy. Current tank mpg (250 miles in) showing 27.6!! What a great car :tsktsk: Back to the drawing board! Car is going back in mid March
  4. Smile, grin and bear it... That's what I've resorted to. Oh well, another few more years, then I can afford to defect as Alan has! PS - Harry - whereabouts in Leics are you? Whetstone Happy Days EH? :shutit:
  5. Here we are again then! After Fridays re-visit (inc new alloys!) 31000 on the clock. Tomorrow off to Swansea, Thursday Lands End, and totalling 950miles. The ECU fix does not work, so I have wasted another 2 days of my life and this car. I have to say I feel well and truly ripped off! Lexus Leicester refuse to do the complete jet swap and then last week I read on here that Lexus Exeter are for other owners! :tsktsk: I went looking at 320D yesterday but I am 12m into a 30m pcp so no escape there then! Any ideas????
  6. My car went in on Tuesday for the ECU and it made no difference and is back there today. Before the work was done, I was told that this fix would completely change the car!! I've told them to road test the car before giving it back!
  7. According to my back of a fag packet calculation you'd need to be doing 4000 miles a month (based on an achieved mpg of 32mpg compared to an expected of say 45mpg) before it cost you that much extra per month! Just over 3000 :o
  8. I haven't managed to get mine to 40mpg and considering it spends most of its like on the motorway, technically speaking I would say this is p*ss poor. Lexus Leicester had my car for 3 days and drivin it really really carefully (no climate etc) they managed a massive 37mpg and thought i would be happy with this! :duh: The stupid thing is I love the car but don't love the extra £150 per month I spend on fuel!!
  9. I collected my car early March last year, it has now done 28000 miles. Averaging 31.2mpg. What a great car - not! :tsktsk:
  10. Hi Jamboo Me again, moaning again! I feel there is 2 sides to this: 1) The cars fuel economy is pants and Lexus GB do not know what to do about it 2) The dealers have never had such a major problem before and are dancing around swerving customers. They all should read this thread and see how many p@ssed off customers they have and worry about the future sales they won't have Personally I have had three people at Lexus Leicester promising to return my calls over this. Guess what still waiting :tsktsk:
  11. Sorry again if this issue has already been covered, but I bought a lead for my ipod nano to contect to my is220d. The problem is severe loss of volume. Have i bought a crap lead? It was £15 and supposedly gold plated or is there something better out there or perhaps a preamp? Please help Cheers Dave
  12. Wow and I thought I'm stressed!! I sat with Lexus Leicester till gone 6 last night. They have come up with a few ideas that they are going to try so lets see! Back in the real world Leicester to Bradford today 220miles = 34.2mpg Fantastic - NOT!! :tsktsk:
  13. Not good! Martin has informed me nothing mechanically wrong with the car. Lexus will not give the go ahead for all of the jets to be replaced! (Help - Scott!!) Basically Martin is awaiting Lexus for a fix - Meanwhile nothing!! Going in to see Richard in a couple of hours! Pretty ****** off!
  14. I certainly would not have bought one! I think to be out by 10% of what is quoted would be acceptable but over 30% is rubbish. Bearing in mind they quote 35.8/52.3/44.8 my 31.6 (mainly motorway mileage) is shocking! Wouldn't you agree?
  15. For the 20k service I had a IS250 sport which got 29mpg and Leicester recon the auto on the se & sel is even better!
  16. :o OMG Still thinking about it, you could put the A4 in 6th @ 50mph still must have been a long day @ 50mph :winky: on a completely different note, had my traction control in use on a roundabout on Saturday. You don't need 3 beeps to tell you that you're side ways!!!
  17. I have to post this, 27mpg in town is not bad for 2.2d :o rubbish, its bad, 406 2.2 hdi is into late 37-39 in town, and my 3.0d is about 36/38 in town :D my sister's carina 1.8 petrol is better than that :o And lexus now saying its not there problem :o now that dont surprise me one bit :o Please take the comments made as they are written . I don't know of another diesel pumping out 300lbft/170+bhp that achieves these figures, and I really do believe that even a 330d (or 320d) on a cold engine will be in the 20's mpg. You have to have a reliable trip computer (or do the maths), and a week or so of 1-2 mile journeys twice a day which is what I have been doing for several weeks (I know it's not good for the car, but it's too cold and wet to walk ) On a cold engine I get 27mpg. That's several 1-2 mile trips as staed above. The temperature needle barely moves. What I didn't mention is that on a warm engine I can get up to high 30's mpg, but with the Lexus you do have to try, else it's mid to low 30's. It ain't gonna get much better I'm afraid. It's no different to any other Diesel pumping out the BHP or Torque that the 220d does. My colleagues A4 170 2.0TDi is very similar in the MPG stakes. I've often said that the engine ain't the best, but seriously, it's not a bad motor and it's never gonna be the best engine in this class. The overall package however make it a better car than anything else currently offered in this bracket - period. My old A4 PDI 130 was on a par with those figures (COLD and HOT) and that had 210lb ft and 128bhp. So I'm sorry but that ain't bad. I've had Pugs, various HDi's, and on a cold stop start cycle they are a tad better, but the torque is short lived (lower rev range) but they make better town cars. PS - I had a Carina 1.8GLi for a few years, not a bad car, very "lean burn" ...but come on! That 1.8 Carina would be left shaking when you boot the 220d and the toque kicks in. You cannot compare it at all. It's a bit like the other thread where an IS200 is out gunned by a Corsa - is that Corsa a better car? Can you really compare them Harry - seriously don't get too wound up - I did for several months. It didn't do me any good. I dunno what your experience of diesels is, but from my experience it ain't bad given this car, the engine, experience of the manufacturer in diesel techno, etc. You really should get mid 30's in town, but it depends on your driving style, mechanicals faults, grade of fuel, how many miles it's got on the clock etc. Let Leicester do their thing...and that 220d sport has a different differential so 6th is easier at lower speeds. Sorry Jamboo, I didn't mean to affend ya good self. :o Ya right I am very stressed. I cover 35000 miles per year, would you have bought a car that claims 46mpg but actually does 31? I had an X type 2.0D last time which did 39-43mpg and before that i had the same as you (A4) which averaged 49!! (Even had 59mpg and 717 from a tank on one mad long day!) Other than the fuel issue the car is fine but the rest of the car aint costing me £150per month extra!! As I said earlier lets see what happens in days time! But thanks for ya thoughts :D
  18. 27mpg! and you're happy with this? :duh: I honestly would not have bought the car if I thought 31mpg was the best I was going to achieve. Lexus Leicester have given me a 220D Sport on a 56 plate which happily goes into 6th @ 60mph and already its showing 38mpg!! I have left a printout of my last posting and thread with them, lets see what happens! ;)
  19. Following my posting earlier this month, today my IS220D goes in for 3 days of observation. I have printed off the various replies/posts to show Lexus Leicester and hopefully all of the fuel jets will be replaced as per Scott’s car - but we shall see. Also in the meantime Lexus have written to basically say it's not their problem!! Watch this space!!
  20. Brilliant!! Thanks for the help Scott I'm going to give them a call now!!
  21. Thanks for the reply, Leicester has suggested the fuel but this will only improve by 10% not 31!! They contacted me just after I posted my moan this morning and now the car is going in for 3 days to be assessed. More interestingly I'm being given a IS220D as a courtesy car and it will be interesting to see if there is any difference!! You mention that you can use 6th at 60mph, anything under 80mph with my car and your fillings would fall out!!
  22. Hi. This is my first post on this forum and I really hope somebody out there will be able to help. I took delivery of a IS220D SE on the 16th of March, bought by PCP over 30 months with an annual mileage of 35k. The car suffered the various rattles that everybody else has already mention and Lexus Leicester has taken care of all of them even replacing a drivers seat base! But from day 1 I have not been able to achieve any higher than 35mpg and in fact over 22000 miles I'm averaging 31.9. Initially I thought it was down to my driving but just before the cars 20000 mile service I fell upon this forum and saw that a lot of drivers are having this problem. Even better there is a fix which will push the fuel consumption up to 45mpg and also allow the use of 6th gear at 65-70mph!! I contacted Lexus Leicester to book the car in for a service and asked about the fix. I was told it cost £1000, but the warranty would cover it. I was also told that so far changing the 5th jet is only working on half of the cars fixed! This work was carried out 4 weeks ago and unfortunately it hasn’t worked. In fact the consumption has actually dropped to 31mpg (along with a load of new rattles). I contacted Lexus Leicester and was told that they had done everything that they could and I would have to contact Lexus direct. I have contacted Lexus and been told that they will contact me with their recommendations by post. I feel totally abandoned (as well as being out of pocket to the tune of £150 per month) and just wondered if anyone can offer any help/advice???
