  1. Me too, the performance of mine seems worse now - fuel won't go above 37mpg even on huge motorway runs and first gear is just scary so pulling out quickly on roundabouts means superhero levels of braveness or massive clutch slip! I've spoken to our fleet manager and am swapping mine for a 320d Msport estate which is due back into our 'pool' in Jan/Feb, it's 9 months old but I'm looking forward to getting it I have to say! I think there is a big problem here and obviously Lexus are not going to admit it. I'm contacting Lexus GB customer relations at Lunch but am not very hopeful. Then going in to Lexus Leicester this afternoon, but I will not leave with my car unless it is completely fixed. Apparently there is a new modal next year but they're not making any promises about mpg, its to get the tax (company car?) band down! Sorry but I'm out of here!
  2. But what's this kangaroo thing? I've read reams of stuff about these 3 cars (and others in this bracket) but not come across this expression before. Hi Fred The car was stuttering or hesitating but before it broke down it did it non-stop for about 1/2 a mile. It had also started to suffer for turbo lag in first gear, not coming in until 2500rpm, I didn't realize how dangerous this is at junctions etc. 44mpg is fantastic, I'm currently av 31 but have had it up to 37. At the minute it doesn't matter how carefully I try I can't get anywhere that. Last night I sent a very strong email to Lexus Leicester's head principle, lets see where we go from here. My honest advice Fred is buy the BMW as I will be doing in September
  3. Hit a new low yesterday evening! Whilst travailing back in the pouring rain, the car began to Kangaroo for about a mile. The car had already been in for a re-flash to cure this (without success!) After a mile the car switched to limp home and 30mph on the M1 is real fun. This is the second time this has happened and is a real concern as it has now covered 56000m. The end of the warranty is looming! The RAC sorted out a hire car this morning and now have a lovely Vectra :shutit: To say I'm fed up is a understatement. The pursuit of excellence seems miles away to me :tsktsk:
  4. What you seem to be missing is the German marks do not have to be driven like a nun to achieve 20-35% better results. For all of the IS's good points the diesal engine is certainly not one of them. This whole topic in various threads seems to be made up of people complaining and others defending it with random offerings. Perhaps driving in carpet slippers should be tried!
  5. The same happened to mine, i nipped into the dealer (lexus Leicester), who were happy to help and sorted in a jiffy!!
  6. Don't think you'll get very far, as they don't know what to do about it! 4 mods later all jets replaced 1 breakdown Car now runs like a bag of sh**, turbo only comes in at 2500rpm in 1st (which will eventually cause an acident) 55000miles av 32.2!! :tsktsk:
  7. I am sure that they keep envy on IS whenever they see it and ask themselves - why the hell I spent 5k more for a car which looks worst than Skoda? :) This ivory tower that you live in does it keep you away from other people. The IS diesel is a bit of a joke around the trade, 6th gear not until 80mph, sub 40mpg for a diesel. I don't question it is a nice looking car but don't kid yourself that everyone wants one!!
  8. I'm sure Audi & BMW drivers have to mess about with roll factors!! NOT
  9. Its pretty hard to sit back and enjoy when you are kangarooing down the road. Following the various post's on this forum I have altered my driving but the car seems to be continually changing as well. Roll on next September when it's gone!! :tsktsk:
  10. All I seem to do is come on here and moan! I think my car must just be a Friday car!! So far, Lexus Leicester has had my car in for 10+ days. Working on 5th injector, then all jets replaced which increased the mpg from 32mpg to 35mpg (on motorway journey 40+). Then 6 weeks ago the car started to seem sluggish and lumpy. 48hrs later the car went into limp home mode, which took 3 days to fix but the car has remained sluggish since and the mpg has dropped back to 32!! As previously mentioned the car went in for its 50k service and a new mod was applied. Yesterday I drove to Folkestone and back (355 miles) with the following problems. 1st gear is dangerously slow until 2500rpm when the turbo comes in and in the rest of the gears @ under 2000rpm the car is hesitating! Car is booked in again next Friday – watch this space!! The really worrying thing is that I am very quickly approaching 60k and the end of the warranty!!
  11. 6000 miles on the clock now on mine was watching the current mpg as best I could on the drive back, in cruise all the time, was frightening to see it only a fraction above 30 at 80mph in 6th gear Your engine is still quite tight at 6000 miles, it should start to loosen up at about 10,00 miles, when you should start to see your mpg improve, and the engine feel more responsive. Rubbish, no it will not!! Currently on 52000 & returning an average of 34.6mpg. Mostly motorway mileage Matus advised changing up @ 2000rpm about 12 months ago but the latest mod (10 days ago) means doing this makes the idle/lumpy. Yet again really fed up :tsktsk:
  12. I've heard a lot of complaints about fuel economy on the 220d. When I took one out for a test drive I managed to average 51mpg (trip computer) on a mix of roads around the Cambridge area. Not as good as certain other cars, but better than the official figures quoted by Lexus. 51!! I'd say the computer was broke, mind you, if you can get 60k out of a set of tyres?!?!? Anything is possible. Can you let me know what lottery numbers you're going for this week :D
  13. Took my IS in last Friday for its 50k service and I as given a RX400h as a courtesy car. What other brand would give such a brilliant car? When I had an x type, I used to get given Nissan Micras!! Even when you want to scream and shout at Lexus, you still can't help feeling looked after and special!!
  14. I took out a 30 month pcp @ 35000m/pa to buy my IS220D SE and paid £65 per month extra to cover servicing only. This has turned out to be a bargain, as from what I briefly see of the separate service bills, I seem to be much better off!! Just a shame about all of the other wrong doings! :shutit:
  15. Hi Jamboo and All I’ve been following this issue now for quite a while and thought I’d add my 2p in. My car is now 19 months old and is approaching 50k. The average mpg is 35.7 up from 32 back in November last year. Things had settled down until the beginning of last month when the car began running very sluggishly, big dead spots and very lumpy. Traveling down the A50 the car went into safe mode and I managed to limp the car into Lexus Leicester. They had my car for 3 days trying to figure out what was wrong, anyway I’ve got it back now but it’s running terrible. The car is going in next Friday for its 50k service but sounds like the ECU mods need rerunning. I’m pretty much deflated by this car and was just counting down the time until my pcp ends next September as I feel legally I don't have a leg to stand on. :tsktsk:
  16. I notice you're not asking about the diesal where there is no competition the beemer is miles ahead.
  17. Hi, I think it was Matus who suggested setting the rev light at 2000rpm and changing as soon as it comes on. This moved my mpg from 32 to 35. I feel that this is prob as good as it will get. My car has now covered 48k and I am on a countdown to get rid next September. Whilst it is a lovely place to sit and a lovely car to look at there are just far too many niggles with it. The car went in to limp home earlier this month and Lexus Leicester had it for 3 days and it's now fixed but seems to be running very lumpy. I did hear there is a new update regarding mpg anyone know if this is true??
  18. It may lack the bhp but the IS-F will win on the looks front. Allegedly, it'll drop knickers at 50 paces!! :winky:
  19. Hi Jamboo- It was only when i had all of the jets replaced that the mpg increased but the car still needs driving very gently to achieve this. All but my drivers seat has stopped rattling and this fixed every service but starts again a month later!! All 4 alloys were replaced at the 30k service and I expect them to be replaced again before 60k later this year. Other than that on we plod!
  20. The 5th injector change makes no differnce to mpg so don't get ya hopes up!!
