  1. Worries me that they are only £500... but thinking about it anyway...just for a little change. I guess they are just cheap look-a-likes to the Brabus Mono-blocks I've always wanted.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=005
  2. Lexus Binfield told me that they change out ever year. doh. they hit me up for a surprising amount of Filters also... dodgey gits. can't remember how much I paid for the pads, but think it was more than is qouted in the thread above. will inspect them myself next time I hear that one! seriously though... pretty insignificant cost isn't it? better sorting them out a little early rather than getting close too the rotors...
  3. yeah, I hear you. I took these off my 300zx as it's going to sit in the garage for the next year. In fairness I took this photo while sitting on the curb... so at standing height you can't see the arch gaps that much. eventually I may get 19 in Brabus monoblock IV's... If I don't when I replace the rubber on these OZ's I may go with a 40 or even a 45 profile tyre.. think it would fil in the archs a little and although not as agressive as the 35's currently on them.. should still look good.
  4. Along the lines of probably the most popular/common on this forum put some new wheels on my SC this weekend. They're 18's... think 19's wold look slightly better... they are 35 profile.. might get 40's on next set of tires. Still like the idea of putting the Brabus wheels on eventually.. just can't come to grips with the £4K price tag. I think the OZ wheels are an improvement
  5. Anyone ever have someone wire in a USB connection to the Stereo ? Need to figure something out; tried the tape with wire; but lose a lot of quality of sound; didn't want to go buy the radio frequency option. Would love to just have a USB connection there! Is it possible to just take to a Car Audio specialist and pay them to do it?
  6. It was the motor mechanism or something.... anyway he bought it. great car, happy man
  7. I bought my SC-430 last Christmas... a 53. still smile almost every time when I drive it! the best car I own; have ever owned --- pure class . Sure you can put it off another couple years and buy the new model for £55 - £60K... or just go out over the next couple months, get yourself an awesome SC for anywhere from £20 - £35K - (you're coming up on the best time of year to find a gem of a deal).. and absolutely love life for the next 4 years in it, then go out and get the new model with very low miles at a great "2 year old" discount. I spent years holding off on purchases and in the last year got my SC and a NSX.... so, so, so glad I did it now when I was young rather than waiting another 3 - 5 years as I was planning. You only live once. enjoy it. (within reason, of course :) ) Anyway.. that's my 2 p worth... as an indicator of what you can 'maybe' find.. a mate of mine got a 54 with 80K on the clock for £20,400 a couple weeks back. Must have been a quick trip around the world or something as the interior / drive is in excellent condition...
  8. NSX are rumoured... have been for so many times, no-one believes the hype any more... to be releasing a V10 NSX.. but its going to be a front engine 500bhp tourer... not the pure sports car that the NSX is. Think the Lexus looks a hell of a lot sweeter. Unfortunately.... unless I suddenly become a millionaire will have to wait until the LF-A is out a couple of years before I could even think of offering someone a 50% depreciation on their Dealer purchase.
  9. Guess this is the evolution of the SC430 after hefty Steroid injection. Need to start Saving.... bet it would be amazing... Lexus smoothness with the power of an untamed beast. http://www.worldcarfans.com/3050110.003/lexus-lf-a-concept Lexus LF-A Toyota has repeatedly been testing the new Lexus high performance two-seater LF-A sports car at Nürburgring. With this new model Lexus is aiming to compete with the likes of Audi’s new R8, the upcoming Nissan GT-R and of course Porsche’s 911. These latest photos are again and still showing a disguised prototype, two of which we have stripped off its plastic panel by computer to show what might be underneath. On the remaining shots the retractable rear wing has popped up due to the prototype’s high speed testing on the race track. The most eye catching item at the rear end though is the triangular design of the three exhaust pipes and the two ovals for the cooling system of the 500+ HP mid-mounted V10 engine. Possibly Toyota/Lexus will release the new model at the next Tokyo Motor Show in fall 2007 to go on sale in spring 2008. It is expected to cost over 100.000 US$ just like the Audi R8.
  10. A mate of mine has been sold on my constant raving about the SC and what an awesome car it is. He's looking at a 2004 with 80,000 miles on it as it is at a great price. The dealer says : Fully loaded sc 430,new alloys, new hard top both by lexus, sat nav, electric memory drivers seat.Drives without fault, full main dealer service history .... New HardTop??? what's up with that. it's an 01342 area code ... silver car with cream interior... anybody know anything about this car... or ever heard of needing to replace a HardTop? scary thought.
  11. Honda came up with something like 4 to 6 protypes and put Ayrton behind the wheel of each. based on his input they redesigned and ended up with the finished product. At least that was what I found on the net.
  12. its because the SC and the dealers are so good there is not much to talk about. other than the occasional, "look at my new wheels" The SC forum is light on Enthusiasts and heavy on Aficionados who know they have one of the best cars available on the market :)
  13. Gave up on this in the end. Do have a set of 2 piece OZ alloys that I'm going to try and stick on next week.. I'll post the pics when I've done it.
  14. Still claim the SC is the best/nicest car I've ever owned; a car I will always have in the garage! But.. check out the new machine I picked up last week Ok... so it's a Honda... not exactly a prestige brand in Japan ( unless you are talking lawn-mowers ! ) but Man oh man.. wow, wow, wow... what a nimble little beast of a (super)car. 2003 3.2 Manual Targa Honda NSX
  15. Sounds like a good plan ( boring out a little ).... can you recommend a service provider who could be trusted to do it right? Or are you saying that It may be able to be done without any machine work on the wheels? Yes, I am saying that you may be able to do it with a set of centering rings and a set of offset bolts. I would seek the advice of a wheel specialist first though as I have never used either on any car myself. I spoke with William at PerformanceAlloys.com very knowledgable and and nice chap. Says he could get me the 45 mil offset and witht he special wheel nuts, centre cap and spicet rings... the alloys would fit right on. Was trying to talk me into other wheels as "as he said" they are a very expensive 2-piece Alloy. £4200 for a set. Problem is that a US company qouted me $4000... which is £2000. I know the Dollar is really weak right now... but how can the price be soo different on a German made alloy???? I could get replicas for £150 each... Would the quality just ***** me off... and be a disappointment? or is there very little noticable difference between replicas and the real thing?

  17. Thinking about darkening the tint quite a bit.... Anyone heard any bad stories??
  18. Thanks! Now for the tricky question.... my wheel fitment/PCD is... 00> 5x114 38 to 45 60.1 Mercs are 5x112 35 to 42 66.6 Obviously this guy made it work... Any Suggestions on what to do from here?? Sounds like it could involve Customization at the Hubs? or is there a chance they could fit right on? Any idea of a good company to talk to about this?
  19. Actually,,, just occurred to me.... That "B" looks very much like the BRABUS "B".... do Merc Wheels fit the SC430??? Found them.... ok.. what do you think... all the prices I've found are for Mercs.... Is the hole-pattern different??? I can't find any application on Google for these Wheels to the SC430.... Is there a chance that the hole pattern is identical.... wishful thinking.
  20. I had been thinking about new wheels as the rubber on mine is a bit old and not in top condition... plus no one gave me much of a vote of approval.. and being insecure it's soooooo important ;) Was in Geneva last weekend and saw this beauty in front of an appropriately positioned purveyor of Bling for the rich and infamous... wife said I could do whatever I wanted to her car.... ch.. ching. anyway... to the point. heres the car : Here's a close up of the wheels.... Big Ole "B" on them.... what for?? Bentley ?:) Anyone know what they are??? Think I might copy the wheels and the Windows.
  21. left the boot slightly open for a couple of days which nackered the Battery.. tried recharging it, but just stayed a bit low so went and bought another one. Anyway.. battery back in and running great, but lost memory on the seats when i changed battery. (The 'set' '1' '2' control on the door) Now doesn't want to work at all. Is there a separate fuse for this feature?? Do they have a history of troubles?
  22. Yep.. you have to keep looking until you find the right one! I spent 2 months last fall, looking at about 10 in the end... some were looking very much like what you'd expect of a used car with 20 - 40K on the clock.. on the 9th I was in Birmingham and rather than drive home, told my wife to have a little kip & dream of her new car; drove up to the Scotland border where I thought there was a "mint" one. 11,000 miles with the clock and the look/feel of a car that's never left the showroom.. all at a price £5K under others of a similar reg... the joys of making a low offer 5 days before christmas out in the middle of no-where..!! Although on the drive back to Berkshire I was wondering if I was wise to hand over my debit card for so much of an instant cash drain... within days I knew that it was one of the best decisions I'd ever made. Am looking at a Maser or Gallardo for myself.. MCGUS.. your comments make me start to drool at the thought of actually committing to one... ( may take another year to build up the bank balance ) But within it's own right, in my opinion, you can't do better than the SC 430. soo smooth, such a pleasure.. 7 months later, the feel good factor is there time and time again... we look at each other on our way into the big city and both say "such a nice car :) " have left clubs in the wee hours wondering if it's been nicked.. so far, so good. ...started looking at alloys again.. as these are ones that were sitting in my garage and happened to fit... think I'm going to kick down and pimp my ride a little, Thinking 5-spoke Chrome 19inch...
  23. I'm Here.. bought my SC back in December with 11K on the clock... up to 18K now.. Love it.. will never part with it... at least for a few years and maybe more. ;) Still have the same wheels that no-one from this site seems to like on them ( they look a whole better than they did in the corner of my garage for the past 4 years! ) The 295 45/18s do look really solid when you're driving behind it.. ... need to buy some others, i guess. watch this space.. will get some this year...
  24. DUDE!!! you the man. I thought you were talking about the Blue "wrecked one" on ebay !!! This baby is mine. I'm sure a dealership would qoute me something like £350 or another equally painful price!! Thanks! you the man Hmmmm..... MK1 mine is a 53 reg... is that an MK1 ?????? Sorry to hear about your car, what happened, is everyone alright? Yep,, just going a little two fast down a small country lane between Bisley and Woking to pick up a Wii I bought on ebay... combination of slick roads and the wrong rubber on car, speed and a very sharp bend. barely came off road but did manage to scrape by a couple of tree branches which put a good dent on front corner panel, took off side view mirror and arial. :((( argh...... only relatively cosmetic damage considering what could have happened... Found a MK1 side-view mirror ( is that the right one? ) and have a mate who owns one of the best body shops in the area... so it will be put right. Think I'm changing the wheels. I've noticed P-ZERO 245's on the front and 295's on the back don't do well in the slick. Surprisingly, the wife wasn't upset at all... give her a while to think about it... O.K. so the rubber/tires are wrong... but was really surprised how little the ABS helped me out of a slide situation..... guess you can't rely on technology when you get it wrong at a little speed ? or maybe it was just down to the rubber compound just being all wrong..
  25. Because the SC is not too common I think you will struggle to get 2nd. hand. Probably looking at Main Dealer. Could check Auto Trader in the salvage section you might get lucky You lucky £$%£" Just seen one on EBAY ! HERE DUDE!!! you the man.
