  1. Anouther good site is www.toyodiy.com gives you diagrams & part numbers
  2. Hi there are no aftermarket manuals for the Ls, its ebay for a cd or an used original lexus manual in 2 parts the cds are ok good luck Mark
  3. Hi if your going to go down the fairy liquid route use baby shampoo instead as fairy liquid has salt in it which is corrosive 7 could stain. baby shampoo is good for cleaning leather aswell.
  4. Hi you seem to have paid a very low price! These cars are so beautiful in operation and to view. I have had many cars, but I do think these are the very best bargains. The fuel economy is a bit poor, but the cost is small compared to the driving experience! Best of luck and enjoy your bargain. Kindest regards David Convert it to run on LPG, a good conversion pays for itself & increases the value of the car, I get 40mpg equivelent out of mine average, & drove the 650 miles from south Germany to London for £42 due to lpg bieng 30 cents a litre in Belguim & that was cruising between 80 to 110 mph, the engine is also runs smoother on gas, its cheaper to run than my mothers corolla 1.6 vvti auto. Hi sounds interesting - do you have an idea of the cost and a company who can be recommended? Kindest regards, David Hi David, depends if you want a single induction type conversion or multi point sequential single around £1100 multi around £2000 I have a brc plug & drive multi point on mine & so far so good ( your model will run fine on a single point if set up properly) I wont reccomend the installers who done mine as they have mixed reviews If you google lpg fourums you will find all the info you need I didn't untill after my car was in for conversion & wished I had. Lucky for me mine turned out fine as they were not busy at the time. If you plan on keeping the car for any length of time I would 100% recommend getting it converted, its also a lot kinder to the enviroment ( I took mine for its MOT yesteday & the emmisions are incredably low)also lpg is a waste product a byproduct of petrol production so if I didn't use it it would be burnt anyway. ta Mark

  7. Hi I contacted the firm on ebay they say they are made in the uk by Firstline.
  8. Hi does anyone know if a toyota tns 200 sat nav cd will work in a ls 400 the cd code is 08664-00878 86271-14v600 to 14v630 4 discs for Germany, thank you Mark
  9. Ah confusus strikes again, thanks for clearing that up Pete, you just saved me a plug change as i was going to do it at the next service, thanks Mark
  10. Welcome David, the more you drive it the more you will love it, if you have a wet boot remove the seal clean it & silicone the lip pop it back on, the boot will then be dry its one of the few problems with the Ls. happy motoring Mark :D
  11. Hi mine is running fine on the original plugs & gap its a brc plug & drive multipoint system, I have been told its better to run on standard ngk plugs rather than iridium though. i still have iridium in mine though.
  12. Hi I belive it is probably your brake servo unit ,if you are standing in front of the car it is to the left near the air filter down by the chassis rail it has several brake pipes attatched to it. dont dream of buying a new one they are more than the cost of the car, you should get an used one cheap as its not a common part to fail.
  13. Hi thats about right for a towbar with twin electrics ( tow equipe I presume ) you wont need the oil cooler. Its a good 6 hours to fit it, Good luck Mark Lexus quoted me 1 hour for the fitting of the oil cooler! Not tow equipe but I did a little bit of haggling with the manufacturer! Many thanks for your kind help. Hi I was talking about the tow bar you should give yourself a day, if you have access to a ramp or a pit it would go quicker ta Mark
  14. As for the valve clearance its shims so non adjustable. Valve clearences are adjustable you have to mesure with a micrometer & change the shims accordingly hence 60k intervals, for locknut and screw every major sevice, hydraulic tapets don't need to be checked

  16. Hi Chris, If it wasn't Ilford Essex is more to the point, my postcode is the second most expensive in the country, Way to many accidents around here, Its more like playing on the dodgems than driving, Theft & theft from vehicles is also quite high, vandalism is also a problem, my neighbor has a new merc 600 a 57 plate bently convertable & a vw toureg the bently has been walked the toureg has been keyed the merc he has only had for acouple of weeks so is still ok, Its one of the reasons I like the understated looks of the lexus ( doesnt attract to much attention) also they dont get nicked that often. All in all make it a wonderfull & harmonious place to live.
  17. I have one on 3 bikes a fireblade, vfr400 & a xj550 me & my wife fully comp unlimited milage, recovery europewide, legal assistance, road rage cover, even my tools are insuared & me if I get hurt working on the bikes. £175. I suppose it depends a lot on your postcode,
  18. Its not so much its a weak point, the fact is is its a 2 tonne car so 10 years isn't bad, my last car an Omega gets through bottom wishbones every 2 years,Audi a4s eat them a mate in Germany has to replace his every year ( he aint impressed). Let us know how you get on ta Mark
  19. If they have set the cam belt incorrectly, a valve might have got bent, this would explain a rich mixture and the tapping sound, I dont know if 1 tooth out would be enough to do this but its a possabillity. this is a worse case scinario. If the belt was one tooth out it would also play havoc with ecu so the fueling would be wrong. Im sure they will sort it out as they must have insurance against these sort of things. At the end of the day if they have messed up its down to them to sort it to your satisfaction. Really sorry to hear about your problems you must be livid, Try and stay calm when dealing with them & im sure they will sort it out ( these things are sent to try us, there are a lot worse things that can happen in life & it seems they have held their hands up to making a genuine mistake)
  20. Try and get a phone number from them & find out where they are made, if its China I think I would give it a miss the last thing you want is one snaping on you, £400 cheaper is really tempting, £60 each is a more realistic price & if it was a Ford or VW part it would only be around that anyway, so they could be OK, Let us know how you get on. Ta Mark
  21. Hi even at 145mph the ls400 feels as solid as a rock no drama at all, still nice and quiet.
  22. Ive noticed a vibration at around a 100 mph at 105mph it dies out no problems after tha even at 145 I think it might be a bit of wear in the rear hub bushes. I go to Germany quite a lot hence the ls400, eats the miles like nothing else
  23. Go for 225 55 17 or 235 50 17 tyres & you will keep a simular rolling radius, the handleing will be slightly better & you will loose a very small probably unnoticeable amount of ride comfort.
  24. No way its much tooo complicated & would cost a fortune. The touch screens alone are thousands of pounds, As cb 1300 said it also controls the air con heating stereo + numerous outher functions, Much better to buy a mark4 and be done with it, you will also get a 5 speed box a vvti engine, zenon lights, traction control, a snow mode & vehicle stabillity control, Also they are going for buttons at the moment. I am biased as I have a mark 4 ( but I can't think of a car I would want to replace it with unless someone offerd me a Aston Martin DB9 as a straight swop)
