  1. You are probably better off looking in Belguim as the cars are cheaper there, ( mind you the pound is weak now so may it have changed)
  2. You can buy ice white or blue bulbs on ebay for under a tenner much cheaper than going full HID, nice and bright also
  3. Hi you can get a manual on cd off ebay for a few £s, all the info should be on it, you want lexus or toyota atf though as its not standard atf in the box. It will need a g/box filter change also.
  4. Hi sorry to here about it, a handy tip, by law you can request for any piece of cctv footage you are captured on, its somthing to do with human rights legislation, they are legally obliged to provide it. If its the second time its happened you should have no problem with a claim. Good luck Mark
  5. Have you checked with a volt meter what readings you are getting at tick over & at high revs, should be around the 13.5 to 14.5 volts mark.
  6. If you get really stuck & they wont send it direct to you. you can have it sent to me then you can arange a courier company to collect it from me, You will have to trust that I don't want 2 tow bars on my ls 400 though
  7. Oh what a dream to live in your post code, a lot of insurers wont even entetain mine ( the second worst for claims in the Uk.) I got £400 fully comp protected 250 xs ,Im 43 have full no claims & 1 SP30 . I did have quotes around the £2000 mark.
  8. Isnt it 2 coolers one for the motor & one for the gearbox oil + the aditional electric fan for the radiator, & not forgeting the most important fan , the one the salesman at Lexus is wafting over your brow when you come round on the floor after passing out, After youve been landed with a £4000 bill for that little lot . Dont get our new Finnish member in a panic, unless he is planing on towing a twin axel gipsy caravan up mountains in 40oC heat, & then he could always keep an eye on the temp gauge.
  9. Could also be to much Voltage I had the same problems with a Vauxhall I owned 15.7 volts at high revs. voltage regulator was shot.
  10. yea, just checked and i can get it just as 'cheap' over here now. do you really need to change tensioners? you can get a belt for about £25 but a kit costs about £135. then there's the waterpump for about £90. + say £200 for labour, thats working out around £400!! does my head in! i don't know wether to just leave it or spend silly money on a car not worth much more! It depends how much you value your car, you could get anouther 40,000 miles out of the belt or it could go sooner, as you say a 12 year old isn't worth a lot you can get a good mark 3 for a £1000 or less now, If it was me I would run it till it goes then buy anouther good one & gut your old one for spares for the new one.
  11. Thanks ManicMark! Is it a mark 4 I have? (1998-2000) You installed a mark 3 on your mark 4 LS400? Mine is a 98 -2000 mark 4 with sat nav a mark 3 95 to end 97 tow bar fits, they dont do one for a mark 4 ( something to do with new regulations in 1998) the chasis & floorpan are the same on a mark 3 & mark4.
  12. I was a bit miffed at what I got for the money £200 but a lot better than the £2500 Lexus would have wanted if they could still get one. which they coudn't . (who bought them at that money )
  13. Try ringing them as the car is a parallel import it might be OK, if not Adrian flux normally do good deals on imports
  14. I would say ngk plugs are just as good there are some on ebay for under £40 a set, go to lexus to buy your belt tensioners & water pump. pm cb1300 about labour he was charged £140 to change the belt pump & tensioners. I doubt you will get a better deal than that. good luck Mark
  15. Its never worked like that with any of my classic policys, if its registered 94 doesn't mater when, its 15 years old, some vehicles only have to be 10, I have a 96 honda fireblade on a classic policy with Footman James along with a few outher vehicles. So give it a go
  16. Hello the one on ebay wont fit its for a mark 2, You can get one from tow equipe, or tow trust, they are made by watling tow bars in St Albans they state for a mark 3 but fit a mark 4 also. I have just fitted one. go through tow equipe as it is cheaper than going to watling direct ( mad but true ) give yourself a full day to fit it, & you will need an extra pair of hands at times.
  17. Hi try Footman James, Adrian Flux or Frank Pickles if not get a copy of practical classics should be lots advertised there. good luck Mark
  18. Hi 2 days ago I got a ryhtmic click click noise when I reversed out of my driveway, I could feel it also. It felt like an outside CV joint gone, it also sounded like it came from the near side. Didn't happen driving forwards though. Yesterday I jacked it up & checked the joints nothing on the left hand side, so around to the right spun the wheel and could feel a tight spot only on turning the wheel backwards. checked the joints all seemed OK , I then removed the disc thinking maybe a spring had broke on the handbrake shoes. Turns out there was a fair bit of brake dust cleaned it out reassembled & adjusted the handbrake shoes & now all is fine. It really felt like a seized cv joint. Just thought I would post it before anyone goes out & gets their drive shaft joints replaced without need.
  19. Hi, welcome to the club Take it back. really not what you would expect from a main Lexus agent, Oil level to low, as for the hunting could be a number of things, sucking air, a loose injector plug, Im sure they will sort it out. Good luck & keep us posted.
  20. Hi If you do go down the Bosch route check out the equivalent Varta battery as they are both made by varta.
  21. If you dont do long journeys its probably low on charge, cold weather, heated seats, rear screen heater all take their toll. give it a charge & see how it holds up, the green indicator might come back when the weather gets warmer. It can be a bit pot luck with batterys, some last longer than outhers even if they are the same make. I personally also find bosch silvers to be good.( had one on a Merc oil burner it was 10 years old when it died )
  22. Hi I firmly belive that he is missinformed the mark 1 & 2 are non interference from then on they are not, hence more power ,my mate from Liverpool Knows his ls 400s inside out & is on very good terms with the lexus workshop up there, I think he said the later models have a longer stroke. I personally trust his info on this & wouldn't want to put it to the test. It would be great if he was wrong, but i somehow doubt it. I hadn't ruled out buying a mint mark 2 for that reason. If you are Difinitively informed different please post it.
