  6. Hi I had much the same problem with a mazda 626 I owned, it turned out to be a loose eletrical conector on one of the injectors ( I spent a small fortune on new leads, plugs , injector cleaner, maf sensor, before I stumbled across it) its worth a try and its a free fix if it works. best of luck Mark
  7. HELLO ALL I am now finally a true new member of the club,(joined the forum 18 months ago) picked up my 98 mk IV LS400 on Tuesday & had a massive grin on me chops for the 240 mile drive back from Liverpool. Its a 2 owner, black with grey leather,130,000 miles full lexus history, just had cambelt waterpump, discs & pads all round, & a load of rear suspension work, never been smoked in, I really can't believe I got this much car for £2350 it looks & feels like a 2 year old, and makes me feel like a drooling 12 year old. 18 months of looking was well worth it, I dont think I will be looking for anouther car for a very very long time. I am looking forward to being part of the comunity as the forum has been invaluable in my quest to find the right car. will post some pics in the next couple of days. bye for now & thanks again for the info & advice you all have posted . Mark
  8. Just looking on ebay, a firm has 5 front wishbones for pre 94 ls400s up for grabs. £54 buy it now + postage got to be a bargain I have just bought a mark 4 after 18 months of looking for the right one, so no good to me.
  9. I'm sure 'POST' rules don't forbid you mentioning WHERE/WHO did the work, and cost? We could get a bulk discount..... I'm sure I could drive without a spare tyre.....and may be driving to Cyprus later in year, so.....(can you GET gas in Turkey?) Hello Chris they are very big on gas in Turkey, if you drive through Greece not a chance, fill up in Italy ta Mark
  10. Could be the gasket between the cats and the exhaust ( when these go the engine sounds like its pinking) you normally only here it under load hope this helps Mark
  11. Hi folks, just something I learnt the outher day, speaking with a tanker delivery driver, If your going to fill up on super market fuel, better be sainsburys or Waitrose as they get their fuel from Shell. Tesco, asda & Morrisons have cheap imported east european Russian fuel, I know were I wont be filling up in the future. Ta Mark
  12. Hi Steve, Might be worth going in to your local Lexus main dealer to look for an early mk IV, too old for them to sell on the front, if they have taken it in part ex, you could get a good deal if your prepared to take it on a trade basis or as spares or repair, worth while leaving your tel number with them,as they also might put a customer on to you who is going for a newer model. If you want really cheap, one has just come up on ebay with a meer 271000 miles. As for an AA or RAC inspection someone had one done on a car I sold, I was not impresed (no test drive didn't even put it in gear to test bite on clutch) or if it went into any gear for that matter. Best of luck and and take your time. Mark
  13. Hi Thanks for the info gents, went to look at a mk3 yesterday advertised on loot1996/P met green 75k no history £2495.glad I didn't have to travel far. both sides full of filler resprayed by ray charles. windscreen with more cracks than the san andreas fault, needless to say I didn't bother to knock to take it for a test drive. The shame about it was,by waiting 2 days to veiw this one which was how shall I put it ( not quite a true discription over the phone) I missed a 2 owner 49500 miler mk2 full history 1993 £2500 180 miles away but now sold. I have time so im sure I will find one . I have also come across an exerlent DIY site loads of in depth repair info.

  18. Hi, ref running LS400/430 s on lpg, They are one of the best vehicles to convert, a good freind of mine converted his own 6 years and 90,000 miles ago and has had no probs with it, He also used only a very basic kit with 1 mixer & no lamba sensor set up. He recons its the best way to go , slightly less economy than a multi point system, but only about £400 to do & much less to go wrong. There is a company on ebay suplying, fitting & certifing kits for around the £650 mark based in Cardiff and Cornwell. I will be doing my ls400 when I get it. best of luck Mark
