  1. Just want to confirm if this will fit on my 2001 IS200 SE. The seller mentioned that it will fit year 99 - 2000 IS200 but I thought all IS200s use the same brake disc. thanks. Click here!
  2. 43512-53020 fits IS (Sep 03 - at least Dec 03)
  3. Last week, these lights came on. Lights disappeared after a couple of days, however I still took the car to my local garage for diagnosis, result was a "P0505 Idle Control Malfunction". The mechanic said that the fault could be from one of the three parts (cannot remember exactly, it was on their reference book). After driving the car fro about 100 miles in few days, same lights on the dashboard re-appeared today. There is no change on performance and fuel consumption and no misfire as well. Has this happened to anyone? I've searched the topics but people who experienced the same problem turned out to be their coil pack and others didn't bother replying once their problem got sorted. Could this fault code "P0505 Idle Control Malfunction" be the coilpack even the mechanic said that it's not. He suggested to use one of those fuel treatment that cleans the engine fuelling system. It's just annoying driving with those lights on the dashboard. I would also like to purchase one of those OBDII reader from ebay, can anyone suggest a cheap one that will do the job. How good are those ones that doesn't need plugging into a laptop, reason being not having a laptop myself. Your help will be appreciated. Thanks. Richard
  4. Had my MOT and service done today (local garage) and everything went well for my 8 year old 122 miler, just shows how good these cars are. Instead of opting for the full service their providing which is basically just an oil change and other visual checks, I've just had an oil and filter change, renewed brake fluid and changed all three auxiliary belts with the MOT done at the same time. I was hoping that any safety issues will be checked during the MOT. I provided all the Lexus parts and a 5w 30 fully synthetic Mobil oil. I didn't get the differential oil done because Lexus didn't have the 85 90w oil, so just left it for the future. My coolant has only been changed last year. I think £115 for labour including MOT was not bad at all. Here she is.
  5. It's hard to maintain a black car scratch free anyway because any single scratch will show unlike other colours like silver. Scratches under the door handles are mostly caused by your finger nails and like what Chris said caused by your ring so should be careful when opening doors. I think my Is200's paint is much better than my previous merc C class. The merc was only 4 years old that time but it's had a countless rust spots on the exterior. The front end also looked as if it was sandblasted. My IS200 is 8 years old and no sign of rust on the bodywork and just a few stonechips on the front.
  6. Hello again, one more question please. After fitting my tte bumper, I found out that the front part of the plastic tray (plastic part underneath the engine) is about 2 inches away from the bottom lip of the bumper so did not bother to connect it at first. Only connected the 2 screws on both sides of it. Also noticed that there is no hole on the bottom lip of the tte bumper to connect the tray with. My question is, is the front part of the tray suppose to be touching the bottom lip of the bumper once fitted or did anyone of you use a bracket to connect the two? If they are suppose to be touching then my bumper probably needs to be pushed in. Thanks.
  7. I just painted mine using the black hammerite smooth paint. Almost invisible behind the TTE mesh. Can't be bothered to take the trouble of moving it.
  8. As promised, here's my newly installed bumper. Still missing the L on the grille and the TTE badge at the bottom. It needs lowering as well.
  9. Thanks guys. I 've told my insurance about it this morning to be on the safe side. It was £42 added to the premium (£17 for the modification and £25 administration fee :tsktsk: ).
  10. cheers mate - yes lowered on TTE's Very nice car mate and the ride height is perfect. How's the ride compared to the stock springs, is it really stiff/bumpy? Any issues of scraping on London humps?
  11. Thanks mate. I'll ring my insurance first thing in the morning. Sorry, couldn't take any pics because it was almost 9:30PM when I finished. Maybe tomorrow. Is £60 plus £20 delivery (brand new bumper with used mesh) and £120 for painting a good price? Also, anyone got the part number for the L badge for the TTE grille? Mine doesn't have one and I like it badged. Thanks. Richard
  12. Got my TTE bumper painted and installed today. Took a good few hours but it's worth it. Didn't bother to install the headlight washer though. Now, should I declare it to my insurance?
  13. Thanks for all your responses. I've asked this question because it is really annoying that everytime my front wheel touches the kerb, you'll always hear that grinding sound between the wheel and the concrete. I know that a simple solution is to avoid hitting/touching the kerb but we sometimes make mistakes. I've got Michelins fitted at the rear with a bit of rim protection but they hardly protect the rim. As my question above, would a 225/45 tyre fit the standard 5 spoke IS200se wheel? Thanks.
  14. Hello everyone. My tyres need changing now and I just want to know if which budget tyres has got rim protection. I've got Nakang NS2 fitted at the moment but the rims are not protected at all. Can I put 225/45 rubber on a standard 5 spokes IS200 wheel? Maybe putting wider rubber will help. Thanks.
  15. I've just phoned 3 automatic gearbox specialists in my area and all of them do the ATF change by just draining the sump. None of them do a full flush as mentioned above (from the sump and the hose from the oil cooler) and all of them are charging over a 100 quids, just for the labour. One of them also mentioned that others drain their sump twice (the second time after running a few miles). So it's basically dilluting the old oil with the fresh one. My car has done 118k miles and the ATF looks dark but not completely black. Checked my brothers car (not Lexus but also got six cylinders) which has only done 35k miles and driven sensibly without any abuse from new and found out that his ATF condition is not much different from mine, smells the same as well. So decided to go ahead with my experiment, bought this extractor from Ebay for £7 and down to Toyota dealer for the Toyota T IV fluid (£48 for 5 litres). Extracted the fluid from the dipstick hole and managed to get just over 1.5 litres. I will do these 3 times with few days interval on each change till I finish the 5 litres. By the third change the transmission should contain half of new and half of old oil. Might be a useless fluid change for some of you as the filter won't be changed but I think it's better than not changing the oil at all and for only £50.
  16. I have read here before that you can siphon or extract some fluid by inserting a small tube in the dipstick hole in case you overfill your transmission. It might be a stupid question but would it be possible to use an oil extractor (like the one they're selling on Ebay) to extract as much ATF then replacing it with the same amount of new ATF?
  17. now after a small you would have come across this A small article i wrote a few years ago why does no one ever use the Search...is beyond me Thanks Mat.
  18. so how many litres of coolant should I get for the IS200?
  19. Just wondering because I'll get my car serviced by non Lexus garage next week and probably they'll just put some cheap stuff in it. I guess it's better if I bring my own coolant.
  20. How about the pinkish coolant from halfords, are they any good?
  21. How does the manifold pressure sensor look like? Had the same problem with my previous Merc and it was the air sensor.
  22. Looks much better. May i know where you get your boot sopiler from? It looks very nice on the car.
