  1. Ghm Sounds like mine Vaistech iPod adapter is better... BTW Vaistech works perfectly with ipod touch and iphone too.
  2. Thanks for the offer matey, but have already had it delivered. Fitted it this morning ... looks pretty good although it does leave about a 1mm gap at the side of the console. Yet to try a test run for rattles but if there are any, you can be sure I'll be posting my findings! Cheers Bern Hi There is only one question... I do not understand how the glove box can be opened after dashmount installation? It is quite clear to see there http://shop.dashmount.co.uk/nov05/711068.htm that it will be blocked... Am i wrong (i hope!)?
  3. btw, www.travel-spot.co.uk things (i have purchased some one week ago) are really bad manufactured (cheap-chinese-feelings) - actually i do recommend to buy the same thing in another place... even halfords is better.
  4. Wow ;) You are lucky guys... As i have moved from Russia, there is a BIG problem to transfer my ncb / experience to local insurance company... Finally, the cheapest that i have found - 1600 per year :( 29 years, Lexus 220D SE-L Hope next years will be much cheaper :)
  5. Ghm... I was talked with my official Lexus dealer representative... He is insisting on that I'm not required to install any beam correctors just because i have installed automatic headlight correction system (which is installed only on SE-L model) (i don't remember the name of this system)... May be it is good idea to contact head office of Lexus UK? As my English is far from perfect - may be someone will wrote the letter (email?) to Lexus UK and ask this question? :)
  6. IS220D SE-L (17'' tyres) - 8-10% difference (70 on speedo - 63-64 real), for sure I'm checking this on straight flat road (otherwise GPS will be inaccurate) This is usual situation for EU cars (not for US for example - i have seen maximum 1% difference between tomtom and speedometer)
  7. Don't have them on my IS220d but on my IS300 I'm sure it was the same both sides. However, things seem closer in the drivers mirror so this might be why they look different when you get car headlights reflected at night. I guess the important test is whether you are being dazzled by any light that shows up in the left mirror? Thanks for the answer. Today I've done some tests using electric torch, directed to the sensor (which is located on the rear view mirror) (that was funny :) ) Actually, everything is working, but at seems that left mirror is tinted slightly less that rear and right one (and it seems that i'm understanding why - just because it is much more harder to be dazzled from left side...) Definitely, I'll try to repair it instead of changing whole mirror.
  8. Yesterday, my left (passenger side) mirror was damaged by someone - the damage is small, but there is a metal crack (in about 2-3 sq. cm) :( I think it was a hit when someone was driving too close to parked cars. Everything is working (i can fully control this mirror from my driver place), but today night i have noted that rear and right view mirrors automatical tinting works fine, but left - not (or at least it is tinted at much smaller level) Actually, i do not remember how it was previosuly.... Should left morrow be tinted at the same level as rear and right mirrors? Or not? Sorry for silly question - but this is my first car with electrochromatic mirrors... BTW - as i can understand, lexus service center will insist on the full replacement of the mirrow (and it is not possible to order only metal case/frame separately) Am i right? I'm pretty sure that it is possible to repair it (even aluminium can be repaired with argon autogenous welding) Thanks in advance.
  9. This is definitely a trouble (and for sure - i have the same). Lexus is aware about and working under new hardware (mirror mount) - it should be available soon. This is an information from my Lexus dealer.
  10. Regarding http://www.coastaletech.com - it seems that 1) their system doesn't work with and ipod 5th gen 2) i do not see any notes regarding compatibility with IS :(
  11. Actually, I'm in US now, and i have purchased Vais ipod adapter :) I'll be back to UK at 3rd of July, immediately after that i'll try to install it (and, for sure, to post results there)
  12. Please, post the results (hope - positive) there, I'll print everything out and show to my dealer (Lexus Twickenham) technicians -it seems that for now they are not aware about any fixes for 220D (yes, for sure, i have exactly the same problems - bad 6th gear, bad/narrow power delivery, bad economy, etc) :() Actually, i'll be waiting for you and your results :), and also (if it is possible to do) please let me know which dealer (and their contact numbers) are you using...
  13. Actually, we will try to work under this problem soon with my friend (he can hack practically mind everything, just the matter of time :) )
  14. that's doesn't work even for a new IS350 (and any car with updated map software) There is no any software hacks yet (but you can downgrade your software to 2006 version and hack will work again)
  15. No problem :) Actually, the main reason (for me) for buying the diesel - lowest emission (so i can be sure about next 3-5 years that all raxes and charges will be small) + relatively small amount of traveling inside of the city :) This car is for enjoying and traveling, and it can be 50% more economic in Europe (20% fuel economy + 30% cheaper diesel) - this is really good... Actually, this is more pleasant to drive manual car on motorway, but not in a town (this can be annoying :) ) Anyway, the gearbox of IS220d is so "easy" and pleasant to switch... For sure, if there were exists Auto 220d - this is far more better idea to have such one :) Will be waiting for a new IS model :)
  16. Ghm IS220D - yes, it is lowest emission level IS220 - 168 IS250 Auto - 214 (btw - this is not LESS than 200 :) ) - not so "green" (it depends from new standarts, but for now it seems to be accpetable as new charge will be paid staring from 225g/km) IS250 Manual - 231
  17. don't forget for high emission evel for IS250 :( (red zone) next year it can be a problem (euro-V, increased (to 25 pounds) Congestion Charge, etc...)
  18. Anyway, i'll show that info to my dealer Lexus Twickinham - may be there is a problem with injector too... There is 100% problem with ECU for sure... Let see day after tomorrow :)
  19. The funny think that there is another option in Europe exists - "luxury" - which include leather seats, 18'' allow disks and sport gear ratio... So there are two "sport" model options in Europe.
  20. Active driving style in a city - i have 25MPG... Motorway - in about 37MPG. BTW i'm going to upgrade ECU 'firmware' soon - will see are there any changes in consumption... Actually - 220d is not very economic... Frankly speaking - it seems to be not so realistic to say "38mpg" in mixed mode - it is better to say 32 :) Yes, if you will drive like an angel (and always get not higher than 1500rpm) - it will be near from the brochure :) Anyway, this is great car and i'm really enjoying it.
  21. I'm talking about http://www.vaistech.com/sli.html Actually, there is no big technical problems to install it - but is there anywhere some manual about opening of the dash on the IS250/220 with the MM/Satnav? Also the questiuon where is the best place to install this adapter... And where to store an ipod... p.s. Update... It seems to be a really easy task to install it - here is some photos which can help a lot http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...;highlight=ipod http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...;highlight=ipod So, i have to order this adapter - i think it will take not more than 2 hours of my time to install it :) I'll be in Florida next week (where is i'll pick up this adapter) so i think i'll post some photos of installation process / result really soon...
  22. 52 mpg??? Amazing! Thanks to everyone for advising - it seems that this is a really bad idea to buy supermarket fuel...
  23. Unfortunately, this is true - really huge amount of stolen cars are finally driven in East Europe and Russia... It is a big kind of a "business" - sometimes even official car dealers (!!!) can sell stolen European cars... Regading statistics, it is very rare condition when some stealed car will be found (by interpol for example), and it is really hard to imagine that someone will try to return a car from such countries... That's funny, but a new owner of stolen car is protected by law - even if it is known that car was stolen somewhere in Europe - he can continue to drive it (and he can loose it only in one situation - if previous owner will try to return it back). Every day there is a hundreds (!!!) of stolen cars only in Moscow... That's why it is really huge business - we can talk about millions of stolen cars and billions of $ :( Only one thing is making me a little bit happier - cars from UK (right-hand wheel) must be not so "popular" in such countries...
  24. Yes, i think it is good idea to use some clearly visibly mechanical device... How do you think - which of them is most useful on IS? Some steering wheel locking?
  25. ;) not agree with.... it is possible to make life much for harder for a thief... if something can't be done in 2-5 minutes - many of them will go away (they don't like to make too much risk) IMHO more than 90% of stealed cars are totally not protected other than standart alarm...
