Chris, Dreaming is what it's all about... Mike, it is lovely, I may just sit in it on the drive as it's nicer than my front room...!! Graham and Mark, there seems to be about four different levels of the PCS, mine has the lowest which just uses the front cruise sensor and will brake if it thinks your going to crash, some others have a rear sensor and also forward facing cameras each side of the interior mirror and infrared transmitters in the headlights.

I've just ordered a set of these.. Was going to go with a genuine set but the Ivory ones come with gold edging and logo and I don't like it.. These are equivalent carpet, if not better, and the company offer 15% off via our Gold member scheme... Going to wash all the carpets in mine and then hit the lot with gallons of Scotchguard to try to keep the lovely Ivory looking good.... Also ordered a set of 8 iridium spark plugs from the states for £50, as opposed to £160 here....!!!!

Looking at the state of the tyres on mine, all four have numerous chunks out the sidewall, I imagine my front suspension problems are caused by repeatedly bumping up curbs.... New tyres will be fitted after suspension and before 4 wheel alignment.. Thanks for the link re wind noise, the passenger side on mine is not too quiet...

That's weird, I had the same message, says in the manual that it is set by the dealers when they change it and the warning is based on time... It say to press the climate off button for 4 secs to clear it, which I did and it went... maybe it has a sensor as well, then and it knew that flow was restricted... Dam clever cars...

I imagine there are various ways of bodging the problem, as it's a suspension issue and one that affects other road users if you have a failure, and coupled to the fact that you have published on an open forum that you have a problem with your suspension then I hate to think of the ramifications if you injure someone because you have bodged a temporary fix. I image your insurance will decline any liability and you will be prosecuted... Your car is not roadworthy unless the suspension is working as intended by the manufacturer.... Take it to a good independant or the dealer and get it fixed properly...

Yeah, don't worry about the rough running that will sort itself out... I still say it's a height sensor, when you had it jacked up the sensor will have gone to a place it doesn't go often, when they get a bit long in the tooth they don't like being messed around. As I said you can get this checked by someone using a diagnostic tool that will read the live values from the sensor... Not just fault codes....

First thing I would look at is the height sensors, these are basic hall effect sensors and won't last forever, it should be fairly easy to remove the arm that comes from them to the suspension arm, move the arm as if the car goes down and see what the system does, it could help to diagnose... Someone with the correct diagnostics should be able to read live values from the sensors to determine if they are faulty or not. Not sure how many sensors your model has, some have one each side and link the front and back together hence both wheels are running at high height... I'd say just buy a sensor and try it out but they appear to cost a fortune so it may work out cheaper paying for diagnostics on it... Most garages can tell you if there is a fault logged but an issue like this is the sensor giving an incorrect reading so you have to have access to, and understand, the live values from the car to diagnose. I haven't driven it far, with the worn front ball joints and suspension arms it feels more like a tractor than a Lexus...!!! You can tell there is a nice car in there trying to get out though...

As these are now getting into the realms of owner servicing etc I thought I would add this info here about battery removal or disconnection... It is unusual to have to wait this long after switching off the ignition before disconnecting the battery, failure to do this could lead to a rather expensive reprogramming of the navigation unit, the description of which takes pages and pages in the workshop manual...!!! From the Lexus workshop manual. NOTICE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Personally I'm going to put a note on my battery to remind me...

Just had a look in the Hand Book and one of the models has one, I imagine the SE-L top model you are looking at... so maybe you will be lucky....

The North / South divide is alive and well, I'm a southerner who moved north 20 years ago and I am stunned at the prices for all manner of things up here... I do get trade price from him as I send him a lot of business but it is still cheap by southern standards....

Thanks guys, I want to get it sorted quickly so I'll have more time to enjoy it... Just picked it up from the paint shop, it's had a full respray apart from the bootlid (original and near mint) and the front bumper (recently resprayed by someone else) The colour match is good, it is covered in machine polishing swirls but I said I'd sort them out.. Too darn cold today to do it so I just washed it and used some Autoglym Aqua wax on it so at least it has some protection... Final bill was £500 so we are still on target to get the whole car sorted for less than £7,500 which was my budget.... A few dodgy pics... That rear arch is looking much better... Tuesday will see the front suspension and brakes sorted....

You will probably find that the windows are can bus (or similar) controlled, it maybe easier to rewire the whole thing, most windows work on two wires and you swap earth and 12v to put them up or down so it's pretty easy to do...
